A good position for strengthening backs...and for those all important pelvic floors (am I right ladies? Wink )

Pelvic tilts are an exercise comprised of very subtle movements which strengthen the support muscles around the low back, particularly the abdominals. They are a good preliminary exercise for those seeking low back pain relief, and they feel great because they give your back a little massage. They can be done lying on the floor or standing with the back to a wall. The standing version is a bit more difficult, but it is a good option for pregnant women who are not comfortable on their backs.

This is a good one for resting if you get tired during routines or if you need to stretch your back a little, good one to go to from downward facing dog:

HAHA I take it you dont do Yoga then Poli. I work too and I have a family- dont see what difference that makes. But if you'd rather sit on your computer chair all day and get a square arse then best of luck!

I have got kids and I have got a life...doing something positive and good for my mind and body doesnt mean I dont have anything else. And who says anything about 3 hours a day? You are a serious worry, Judgemental and negative to the core...but I guess you are not alone out there, plenty of others like you.

Its about wellbeing and taking care of your mind and body. Happiness is not absolute Poli. I can feel happy in my life and still desire to do exercise and relaxation...its not something people do when they are only unhappy or unwell or something. People relax in different ways...some think chilling infront of the vegie-box (TV) gets them relaxed, others take substances...me, I do yoga- whether Im needing to relax or not. its good stuff and whats wrong with trying it- you should give it a go Poli, could help with all the unhappy energy you project onto people here who are different from you. And yeas, just an opinion is all

Ok, ignoring all negative elements around you. you can now practice other yoga sequences. Yoga for strengthening abs is a good one.

This sequence is made up of poses that will improve your core strength and help flatten your abs. You will never get a six-pack from doing yoga, but you can tone and strengthen your belly. Increased core strength will also help relieve back pain and improve your posture (nothing makes your belly look bigger than slouching!).

Start with cat-cow pose:

do quite a few of cat-cow pose to get warmed up. then:

Return to a neutral spine. Bring the right leg and left arm up until they are parallel to the floor, coming into Hands and Knees Balance. Hold five breaths and then come down. Repeat on the other side.

Come forward into Plank Pose.
Remember that the distance between your hands and your feet should be the same in Plank as in Down Dog.

Hold 3-5 breaths.

From Plank, shift your weight onto your right arm as you roll onto the outside of your right foot.
Keeping both feet flexed, stack the left foot on top of the right with the legs very straight.

Bring the left arm up to the ceiling and the gaze to the left fingertips, coming into Side Plank.

After 3-5 breaths, roll back to the center and do the other side, resting in Downward Facing Dog between the two sides if you like.

If the balance is too difficult, try

Come back to Downward Facing Dog and rest here five breaths.
Then bring the right foor forward next to the right hand.

Bring both arms up toward the ceiling coming into a High Lunge.

On an inhale, straighten the right leg. Exhale and bend the right knee back over the ankle.

Continue for five breaths.

Ok...anyway people get the picture. i guess if anyone is really interested they'll go check out sequences and poses for themselves. I'm going to leave it there as it appears that Poli can't help herself and feels she has to interfere and be a knob on any thread she has no understanding about.
