Definitely fortunes being made in the oil markets.

Notice how every time there's a war the price of oil rockets? Don't anyone tell me that oil companies don't make a killing out of it. Those who profit most from war are the most likely to cause it and support it. |

Last year, Hugo Chávez offered to peg the price of oil; his proposition would have locked oil at $50 per barrel. Venezuela is the fifth largest oil producer in the world; and, could satisfy the planet’s oil needs for more than a century. Time enough for us to wean ourselves off oil dependency.
What would be in it for the USA though? |

| Nothing would be in it for the USA, the single biggest influence on the USA government is the Oil industry. The main figures in the administration all have huge holdings in American oil companies, and the republican party receives huge donations from the industry. It would be bad for the American oil industry to have oil prices pegged or capped, and bad for the personal financial interests of the main members of the current administration. |

Peco, there is a way to play them at their own game, same goes for banks. If you can raise a bit of equity, doesn't have to be much, buy shares in oil or mining companies.
Roll over the dividends (ie automatically reinvest in shares) and the higher price you pay for fuel (or interest) is offset by the profits in shares.
Hard to pick a time, the markets are due for a fairly big correction soon (I think..) so keep an eye on them. |

it seems to me that the iraq war is more about oil than anything else,
gain control use up all the arabs oil while keeping your own, then once there oil is used up put up the price of your own and blackmail every one you dont like into submission |

I believe that was one of the points Chávez was making. |
