Hello out there...........

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to get to Lviv in Ukraine travelling from Krakow in Poland.

Which would be better by train or coach? How long does it take? How much does it cost?

Any advice gum tree users could give would be great!

You have to go from Krakow to Przemyśl (very beautyfull city in Poland near Ukrainian border approx. 120 km from Lviv) by train. It takes about 6-7 hours.
And than there is a lot of coach runs from Przemysl to Lviv.
there is also straight train Krakow Lviv, but only once a day and permanently full of passengers.

TRUST ME!! DO NOT take the train to the border and then try to get a coach to Lvov. The buses are cramped and smelly, and there can be massive queues at the border, just take a train through. Or:
I drive to east europe and ukraine regularly (from London) by car, to have fun with mates. At some point of the summer, I also plan to go through to ukraine, take ferry to Istanbul. Always looking to fill car.

Just as a sideline to your question, I've been to Lvov from Kiev and stayed at the George Hotel. Beautiful Art deco hotel with really nice people. The Manager's a gem. The hotel may be a little tired, but it's slap bang in the centre and really lovely.

I have been to Lwow twice, the journey from Krakow to Przemysl takes about 4- maximum 6 hours, then it is better to take the bus, you have to realise, there is different railway between West (still Poland) and East- so you would have to wait about 2 houres on the bourder. Bus is definitely better option although does't sometimes smell nice and the bus station is about 10 km from the Lwow centre - there plenty cheap minibuses going to the centre. to get from Przemysl to Lwow takes about 3 hours (as fur as I can remember). Enjoy it! Lwow is one of the most places I have ever seen!
