| Yes I can drive, reckon I would need one or two lessons to brush up on parking (my failing point!) and need to learn the driving system, formalities and all that. I am in SA, comming over to UK next week, not sure if driving system is the same over there? |

ok
you will probably need about 4 - 5 lessons (roughly £20 ph)
`Theory test (i think this is about £20)
Test (not sure how much this is - probably about £30)
License (probably about £20)
You will also need to get a provisional licence
have a look at teh DVLA website - it will have all the prices
www.dvla.gov.uk
if you have a SA licence you should be able to just exchange it without having to do a test |

| Thanks very much, great help. I will have a look at the website. One more question, do you know if it is relatively easy to get a booking or would I need to book months in advance? Thanks for all your help again! |

i think it takes a while to get a test date - oh and its variable in difficulty depending on where you take test - shouldnt be but its true - some centres have right sods as examiners others are much nicer - cities often harder than smaller towns etc
im sure there will be unofficial sites about this stuff
i do know some centres will have a standby list
good luck |
