Hi ALL, quick query re: buying cars to drive around the EU. Was planning to arrive in the UK and buy a cheap car and then drive around the EU... But am finding it difficult to get all the info re: insurance and registering and then ferrying it over to the EU and all the costs involved in that?


There's gotta be heaps of folks out there in gumtree land that have done this before so any advice you could give would be much appreciated!

General queries include: To ferry a car over from UK to EU is expensive?
Are you OK to drive a UK car in EU given set up of vehicle itself is different (ie. steering wheel on other side) and does that present some kind of problem with insurance?

Given all that stuff - maybe someone out there could suggest the BEST place to pick up a cheap car to drive around the EU in general - I don't really mind which country I start off in...but will probably be on the road for 3 months or so...???
