Trancers is one of my favourite sci-fi films, that I own and watch almost every week. I think what makes it great is the fact that Tim Thomerson does such a great job of playing a grumpy detective in a trenchcoat. The sequels aren't too great, but I guess they all have a certain likeness about them.

So like basically, this cop called Jack Deth is waging a war against Trancers because they exist in the 23rd Century and make life hell for everybody. They killed his wife, so as you can imagine he's out to singe every last one of them. Somehow, they're often able to escape through time, so Jack has to do the same thing. When he goes back in time, he ends up falling in love with a person called Leena, who is played by a pre-stardom Helen Hunt. In one of the later films, he discovers he has a daughter, and she has his shoes to fill as it becomes her destiny to kill Trancers as well.

I think it was great how they made these films without spending too much money on the special effects and make-up. The only thing that really lets them down is the fact that a lot of the other actors involved are not very famous, and they come across as inferior. So, Tim Thomerson is the only thing that makes them good.

Tim Thomerson is without a doubt one of the coolest B-movie heroes ever. I also love watching him blow up mean people and these creepy playthings in both Dollman and Dollman vs. Demonic Toys. If ever they bring back the Trancers series, they ought to make them like it were back in the good old days (circa 1991).
