If you have been taken in by this softly spoken man with a rather camp Manchester accent who baffles you with legal jargon and the Distance Selling Regulations while at the same time failing to deliver your pram or refund (unless you are very lucky - Royal Mail give him such a hard time, poor lamb!) then contact me at con.fused@hotmail.co.uk as I too have had a nasty run-in with him and can only help you if you contact me.[/u]

Hi guys,

I have been dealing with Trading Standards regarding this person and they suggest that you phone 0845 4040506 and log a case there. (this is the Trading Standards help line)

The person concerned had contacted the company and they did offer to send a cheque for a refund. Whether this happens or not we will have to wait and see. If it doesn't then Trading Standards will follow it up.

It seems we too have been scammed by this man - not on a bugaboo but a Phil and Ted. Our experience follows along the same line as all others who've posted replies.

He even sent a text to us asking if we had filed a civil warrant - we hadn't but looking into it you unfortunately need a street address for this - does anyone have this, although I'm sure it's probably not even genuine.

Hi fooled_on_gum,

This person is known to Trading Standards, so please phone the number I have provided in the earlier thread. They are monitoring the situation, and will prosecute if necessary.

If you've not got in touch with me yet then do so now at con.fused@hotmail.co.uk . Remember I can only help you out if you contact me. Mail several times if necessary, some are ending up in the spam. And if you haven't replied to my initial response do so now. Remember that I have to make sure you aren't a certain Mancunian in disguise! And if you're concerned about me I'll give you ways to check me out.

Thanks to all those who have contacted me. If you have been scammed for a pram or ANYTHING ELSE at ANY time by this man and haven't contacted me then do so as soon as possible - there is no time limit.
If you are seeking to make a civil claim (small claims court) against Mr Manchester in order to augment the number of CCJs against him... then you need a proper address and con.fused@hotmail.co.uk can help you with that too.
Unfortunately my con.fused email address is receiving a great deal of unsavoury spam so in order to make contact at an alternative email address please google Mr Manchester's favourite mobile phone number, the one which ends 727, and you will find a VERY HELPFUL email address to use.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I've just been scammed by this ***t too, and very expensive it is too. Wish I'd googled "N M**** pram" before I sent my money. Aren't the police interested in this guy? It's called stealing. Can anyone else out there verify that con.fused is genuine? I'd like to contact him/her for help, but don't want to be scammed by someone else (or the same bloke) again.

By the way, has anyone ever actually received any goods from this guy? Does he actually have any prams, or is every deal he does a scam?

received a RBS cheque last month which was post dated for a period of 21 days. I was also provided a SAE to return a letter. The cheque for 311.00 has cleared.

If anyone wants my help please contact me at tigra1969@yahoo.co.uk

My partner did try con.fused but I think the person behind this email address is a fake. I have now left positive feedback on his site as that was a condition.

I am happy to say we have managed to purchase a replacement from another retailer on ebay. Very Happy

tigercat is Mr Manchester himself and 1969 in the email address he gives represents the year he was born. He is full of stupid games today - nothing better to do perhaps, since he never grew up. Go and find yourself a proper job Mr Manchester - it would be a damn site less time-consuming and far more rewarding than what you do at present.

b careful of the next two adds. unwanted cameleon from bershire 369 and cameleon from chelsea 400, i am possitive its mr manchester as i have my ways of finding out, but he just does not know how!!!! and one on the car seat section, quinny buzz in pink.

also to the gum tree admin, i have been trying to buy cameleon from gumtree but am finding it so hard as 99 percent of the adds for new cameleons are sold, but have not been removed by the seller which makes it diff to search for the ones that are, can you call up these people and remove the adds so genuine buyers can find recent sellers.

Hi - I'm also from the previous forum and was scammed by Mr Nearly Manchester back in July. Like some of you, I received a post dated cheque. I did not receive a purported contract, possibly because by that stage I had informed Mr NM that I am a lawyer (which is true). I also know that it isn't legal to post-date a cheque and my bank in fact advised me to try paying it in straight away, nonetheless, I did wait until after the date on the cheque, because I guess that this man has cash flow problems. Despite waiting, the cheque has now bounced twice. My patience has run out. I would be happy to co-ordinate legal action against this man and I think we would be in a far stronger position if we all join forces. There is, however, the difficulty of no one knowing who anyone else is on line - hence the concerns about con.fused.

I think the best thing at this stage is for us all individually to contact the trading standards number given by the moderator in his earlier post in this forum - we can, I hope, be fairly confident that the moderator and trading standards are genuine and independent. I propose that we keep in touch via this forum and take it from there.

Nbonney - do you mind saying why it was only part payment and also what form it took? My cheque from Mr NM was stopped five days after the sum was credited to my bank account. This means that the sum has been redebited from my account.

I have now seen evidence which convinces me that con.fused is genuine and able to help considerably those who wish to pursue complaints / legal action.

As for reporting to Trading Standards / police - please give them as much detail as possible - e.g. telephone numbers / addresses, also Mr NM's full name, as well as the abbreviation he uses in telephone conversations. Also, the name of his purported company. These details will ensure that the records of our individual complaints can be cross-referred to one another.
