Hi,
I graduate in a few months and am looking to move to south london-somewhere on the end of a tubeline or about 15 mins to central london by train...any suggestions for places which are relatively cheap but lively with lots of young professionals??
Thanks |

Croydon's a good place to live, I graduated a few years ago and moved here. Its zone 5 so a lot cheaper but on ly 15 mins into London, also we've got trains running all night.
Also nice as its a town so got everything you need here
Good luck |

Hi
I think Camberwell is great. It's got brilliant transport links:
1.Buses to W/end and City - Night bus service too
2. Train from Denmark Hill and Loughborough Juntion to Elephant, Victoria, Kings Cross
3. Underground only 5-10 mins away by bus at either Brixton, Oval or Elephant
Bars, pubs, places to eat etc etc
Hope this helps |

Hi,
Peckham (next to Camberwell) in Zone 2 has its detractors because of the reputation of the north of the area where the social housing is most concentrated and some high profile crimes (Damilola Taylor).
However, it has a conservation area in the south-west around Bellenden Road (near Peckham Rye station) that is worth considering because it has the best houses and a few nice cafes/pubs/bars/restaurants. Peckham library has won an architecture award and hosts a nearby farmers market, plus there is a supermarket by the high-street and plenty of cheap shops. (It has a swimming pool but I understand it's presently closed for extensive work).
Peckham Rye station has regular services to London Victoria (15 mins journey) and London Bridge (10 minute journey) so it's quick to get to the centre of London or the City. |

Clapham (north, common, junction) and Balham are both nice areas and are relatively cheap - although this is london so you must be realistic! Battersea is also very close to town but tends to be more expensive.
Lots of young professionals live in these areas and generally will take you 15 - 20 mins to central london by tube - depending on where abouts you work... |
