A few friends and myself are thinking of heading over soon. Let 's know good/fun things to do when you get back? The water park with the wave machines looks like fun, and the girls tell me shopping is second to none if thats your bag.
Have fun! |

I went to Dubai last year for 4 nights en-route to Australia. Its a beautiful country - very clean, but if you're female remember to cover up! Even though I covered my body completely and dressed very modestly, my boyfriend and I still got stared at everywhere we went - probably because Im 1/2 pakistani and he is Indian - so for us, the people were offputting, but it might not be the same for a white couple.
Wild Wadi waterpark is good fun, and Jumeirah beach is lovely, but if you want to get away from the crowds, there is a another beach (the name has slipped my mind) but if you ask about, you'll be directed to it (I know it begins with M)
The food was ok......not brilliant.
Oh, and remember to smoke shisha in one of their cafes!
If you want to go and view the Burj, make an appointment beforehand and dont wear flipflops!
Everything is quite spaced out in Dubai, we ended up getting taxis everywhere
Thats about all I can think of just now.......... |

I went two years ago. fantastic. do it. look for the gold market in old dubai. so so so cheap. you haggle them down to nothing almost. Toilets are alet down though from where they wash their backsides. yuck.
The waterpark is next to the barg al arab hotel. and the tour of the hotel for £20.00. well worth it. an eye opener. |

I'll be going to Dubai for a 2 night stop-over on April 6th is anyone is interested in meeting up. Also any recommendations on where to stay? Have looked at the youth hostel but it seems far from the centre. Am considering the Hotel Delhi Darbar
Cheers!

| Used to live in the UAE. Dubai is a hell hole. Looks good from the outside, but its just one big building site (has been for about 15 years), has a VERY dodgy, seedy undercurrent and the roads are now among the most dangerous in the world. ENJOY!!! |

What you should consider is doing a Desert Safari (where you go on a 4x4 trip through the desert) and then have a typical arabian evening with food, drink and bellydancers. There is a stay overnite option as well, but the late afternoon/evening one is perfect.
Then shopping: you can go to Marcato, City Centre Wafi City. Wafi City has the best restaurants and spas there.
Food wise, try and experiment as much as you can. We found this gorgeous arabian cafe on a corner near the Dubai Towers (that's their nickname for the two buildings that look exactly the same - on your way to Wild Wadi) Cant remember where exactly, but these guys RULE in fresh fruit juices!! What you should consider doing, is go to Jameira Hotel and have a drink up in their cocktail bar, heaven. Wild Wadi is an amazing park, but be prepared for LOADS of kids running around You have to do the slides that go up - yes - they go up, not down.
Gosh! There is so much to tell you!! I spend a month there and loved every moment!! If you want more info, just ask. O!! Remember, you are going during a very hot weather period, so have a bottle of water with you, it can get TOO MUCH! |

I can't say enough about it - it is fantastic! I stayed at the Jumeriah Beach hotel which is fabulous. Check out the Gold Sheik and go to the local markets. Its facinating!
Its very hot there so best to go in March. I am going there next weekend. |
