|
|
I'm asking on behalf of a pal who's laid out the best part of £2K on a bed at one of their London stores...
and they've had the wrong matress delivered, other parts of the bed were missing and now Dreams plc won't return phone calls, emails or letters...
It's been several weeks and despite promising to resolve the matter, not a damn thing's happened.
Experiences, advice as to their next action would be great. |

| Only experience we have is of Argos - parents ordered a new bed, didn't like it they brought a new one - was a problem (wood was cracked) and then brought a 3rd bed and gave a discount for the hassle |

My husband and I went to look for a new bed frame to replace our existing
bed. When we decided to see what dreams had to offer and we saw a bed we
liked. The branch manager showed us mattresses and we ended up deciding
on replacing the mattress as well (he was good at selling). We went home
decided on the dreams bed and returned to the store with the dimensions
of our existing Mattress to ensure that it would fit into our room. The
manager told us that the dimension (160 x 200cm or 5' x6'6") was for a
Super King Size bed which it turns out is actually (180 x 200cm or 6' x
6'6"). Feeling that he was the expert we ordered the bed and paid ?£1600
for all our purchases. The order form was folded into a pouch and
nothing was said about a 24 hour time limit. When the bed was delivered
and being put together I told the delivery guys that it was much bigger
than my original mattress and when they measured it lo and behold it was
smaller and they confirmed that my original mattress/bed was king size.
They called their manager and they said that I was to contact customer
services who would replace the bed. Upon contacting customer services
about the mistake that had been made by their sales person I was told
that there was nothing they could do as I was supposed to check the
order form and contact them within 24 hours. After a number of phone
calls they offered me the choice of paying 20% (?£285) to get the right
size. I refused and wrote to them and they have refused even though they
made the mistake. We are expected to pay this amount without considering
the fact that if we had picked a smaller size it would have cost us
less. I will never buy anything from Dreams and I will make it my
mission in life to spread the word. They have no concept of customer
service and the fact that by remedying an error they would get repeat
business. I have other rooms I was going to furnish but I will go
elsewhere. Hope this helps anyone even remotely thinking of going there. |

I first used Dreams beds nearly 15 years ago and never had any problems. They were a lot smaller company then, delivered on time blah blah blah and was a good business to deal with. Decided to renew the mattress about 3 years ago and paid them £700 cash on the understanding that I would collect it within 24hrs from their shop. They were to telephone the following day to confirm that it had arrived.....
No phone call for 3 days, I returned to the store and they insisted it was on it's way, so gave them the benefit of doubt. Three weeks later still no mattress so again returned to same store. Asked for return of £700 which they refused saying that I had signed a contract, at this point I was getting rather peeved off, so decided to leave the store and return to my van, collected (1) sledge hammer and again returned to store giving them the option of either returning my money or losing their windows. Left shop with my money. |

Dreams are a sad excuse for a company, i ordered my double bed and mattress in January and was told the waiting time was 7weeks, 2 days before scheduled delivery they rang and said it wouldn't be in the country for another 3 weeks, however the mattress still arrived on the initial date, on the second delivery day i received a text from dreams saying that they would call soon to place the 2 hour delivery slot an hour later "Yeah soz it's damaged it'll be another 3 weeks and the supplier has changed so it won't be the exact bed you ordered". I lost my cool and got angry since my daughter has now been sleeping on the floor and living in her room with a double mattress on the floor for 6 weeks, yesterday was the third delivery date the bed arrived and we unpacked it to find that the sprung slats we paid extra for weren't present, i called them and gave them a piece of my mind and they answered as if they expected my call and knew that they'd gotten the order wrong, it will now be another week until my daughter has a bed. When we told her she burst into tears, she's tired of being messed about.
TOTAL WAIT: 14 WEEKS
THINGS MY DAUGHTER HAS TO DEAL WITH:
SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR
LIVING WITH A DOUBLE MATTRESS ON THE FLOOR
A ROOM FULL OF UNNECESSARY CARDBOARD PACKAGING |
