do I need some sort of VISA to go to New York?
Our embassy can't even tell me!!! great

Hi guys - yup, it's a real pain in the neck. I will be applying soon myself. You will most likely need to go for an interview at the embassy and fill in about a billion forms including questions such as, 'are you a terrorist or have you ever been involved in terrorist activities?' .. I mean, really ...

p.s. It's a lot easier if you own property here or apply from SA directly. I hasten to add that after all the effort, you do get issued with a 10-year visa, so that should be some small consolation! :o)
