This is a tough one. London generally is pretty safe... you gotta remember about 8 million people live here so theres a certain amount af dodginess just from the law of averages. That said, most popular rental areas are OK. Busy is good, especially when late at night. I lived in Finsbury Park for three years and had no worries, but others weren't so lucky... you have got to be street smart and watch yourself, don't get involved in anything dodgy and try to be safe is the best advice. Its difficult to say 'this area is safe' because theres always an exception to the rule, even in posh spots like Chelsea. Maybe check Metropoitan Police website to check out crime rates? Hope this is helpful.

you can't go far wrong in fulham or clapham, very close to the west end and full of young professionals.

I've got an area for you its called, Crackney oh er i mean Hackney.

Wonderful area and you'd be offered a lot fo work there too. You could master the art of turning replica guns into firing real bullets or you could work in one of the many crackhouses selling your body for cash/drugs.

Take a walk down the busy roads and see the blood stains and police cordons. Smell the air full of weed smoke. You'll get plently of excersise climbing the stairs to your flat on the estate when the lifts breakdown cos they've been vandalised and filled with piss. Witness the drive-by shootings, stabbings and when it all gets too much for you to handle just take another vlast of your crack pipe that will see you right.

Be warned though you may not want to walk about at night as thats when all the hoods come out to play to take your cash and jewelery but you can buy a gun to protect yourself pretty easily round here and there are plently of pimps that will be more than to claim you as theirs and offer 'protection'

AAahhh Hackney don't you just love it. So when you moving there?

communique no2 (Gumtree Liberation Army Council)

*news from the frontline*

time for action has now come

operations now underway
* our spies are operating behind enemy lines and infiltrating their plans
* Lion King was despatched last night for counter revolutionary activities
* Colonel Box will review the troops this friday
* Enemies are under active surveillance - our spyware is operating successfully - enemies beware
* Big one is now in charge of all revolutionary activities in the south African sphere (supported by Saffa ooops)

time to decide if you are the problem or the solution

Join the revolution - we need more troops with weaponry expertise, we need babes to tend the troops, we need more spies, we may need volunteers for possible suicide missions

interested parties should report to "revolutionary headquarters of the GLA" thread

Time to throw out the old and bring in the new

the tree will be shaken root and branch - we have identified the disease and wil take action

we give no quarter, we take no hostages

Vive la resistance, vive la revolution

support the GLA

GLA GLA GLA GLA

I also live in Hackney and I would recommend it to the girl who opened this forum. I've never felt afraid for my person or belongings and find the art galleries on the east side of london to be more modern and open to creativity. I'd live in the east end if you're looking for someplace with art culture! Check out around Hackney Central!
