What bilge is this about being turned down for a loan "because it was a lower APR"? Just when I think you've maxed out on the crap-o-meter you come out with something like that Laughing

It couldn't have been because your credit rating wasn't good enough, could it? And that the terms involved were totally different? No, of course not - not with you. It just HAS to be someone else's fault, doesn't it? Rolling Eyes

Hey, AntiRed - I notice someone is looking for a Burger Van for next weekend.

I'm sure you could supply a few of those from your ranks over at Crazy Land, couldn't you? Laughing

What has been posted here is a biased view of someone who failed to become an ADI and who is blaming his trainers for it. That's hardly an objective analysis of the pros and cons of becoming an instructor via one of the big schools.

You appear to have a semi-legitimate claim (legitimate in that you cancelled inside the cooling-off period, but your reasons for signing up and then cancelling are somewhat questionable), but don't think for a moment your claim is the same as all these others or that if you succeed then they'll succeed too - or vice versa.

Just because a load of people are moaning doesn't mean they're all right.

What is really laughable is the number of people appearing who have signed up and quite quickly decided it was a mistake. They can't be that sincere about being ADIs if they're that fickle. It isn't a game.

My name is Andy Evans & i live in the West Midlands.
I signed the course agreement because i was told the average pass time scale was 4-6 months plus i could be earning £30,000pa with them.
Having realised that if i passed in 6 months at the latest i would be working as a driving instructor before my course fees were due to start this October.
The guy i am training with in my own time was told the same. He has just passed his part three in 12 months!!
I have, today walked out of the college in disgust.
If anyone can help me regarding the legality of the course fees & advice on what to do i'd be most grateful

So what are you going to do now?

You've thrown your toys out of the pram, and no doubt - assuming you carry on training somewhere (which isn't guaranteed, is it? Do you still want to be an instructor?), how long do you think it will be before you qualify?

If you stick it out you could qualify by October.

If you go somewhere else you may find NEXT October is optimistic.

How far have you got? Passed Parts 1 and 2?

The course fees are "legal" and you will only get out of it if Red or the Bank agrees to it, which is unlikely. Very unlikely.

Depending on whether you are serious about it, and genuinely want to be an ADI (or just realised it isn't what you want at all), you might want to go to that Facebook Krazy Kongregation we keep hearing about. They specialise in a lot of shouting without having anything to shout about. If nothing else it'll make you feel a lot better.

Yes of course i want to be a driving instructor that was the point of me signing up for it.
I haven't even passed my part 1 yet since last October!!
I have sat It three times with the DSA & failed it yet whenver i sit it at the colloege i pass it & they can't even explain to me why i continue to fail.
I have been in to the college today & the disc she gave me to use was from 2004. The computers are so old that the HPT video's wouldn't run on thier pc's

Andy, being serious now - there are too many whiners on here and it always seems like just another is tagging along for the ride...

You've got to really seriously ask yourself if this is for you!

The Part 1 is just a test of slightly polarised general knowledge. If you know the answers and hazards, you will pass the theory test. Neither part is rocket science and there is no reason why someone shouldn't pass every time they do it. HPT is a bit more tricky, of course, but still easily passable.

You cannot possibly blame Red for you not being able to pass Part 1! They can't make you know the answers to what is available in the Question Bank or click on the right hazards. You have to do it yourself - all they do is support you until you pass.

Seeing as it has taken you 9 months so far, that's 9 months on top of however long it takes to pass Parts 2 and 3. Be honest, Red said 6 months was possible - they didn't guarantee it, did they? Your own words say as much, but you're behaving as if some guarantee was made.

Most people would just get Part 1 out of the way in their first month. Even those who are against Red and who advocate pay-as-you-go training would do this on their own without any special support. At 9 months, alarm bells should be ringing. Very loudly.

If I were you I'd go back and get on with it (and forget about doing it in "6 months", especially when you have already mangled the primary assumption when someone says 6 months is "possible"). Failing that, think very hard about how to proceed.

If you think Part 1 is hard, Part 2 - and especially Part 3 - are harder still. If you are likely to need huge amounts of support to get you through you are likely to take years over this - and more than one run at your three strikes, as well.

People like AntiRed would happily fuel your anger, but in all honesty you don't have a case. You have basically failed and are blaming Red - and that is exactly what the losers over in Krazy Land are all about.

The HPT disc date isn't really important. HPT is HPT - it would only matter if they were giving you the actual clips you'd get on test, then they'd have to be up to date.

Don't look in the wrong places to find blame. That's the mistake AntiRed and his/her Kreed make.

Im not blaming Red for me failing part 1.
What i'm saying is i don't think they are offering me the support & guidance to tell me what i'm doing wrong in order to pass it.
As for my part 2 i've been practising this with a qualified ADI for the past 6 weeks & he's telling me that im virtually ready to pass my part 2!!
What i'm saying is that i think Red should be offering more guidance & support rather than just leaving me to my own devices-otherwise what the hell am i paying them for??
As for the 100 questions-this part i never score less than 96%.
It's just the hazard perception clips i can't pass.
Yet my confusion is this-whenever i use my training disc at home my average score is 65. when i have been into the college before i never fail to pass it-my lowest score being 59.
so far i have not done a HPT on either disc that i have not before so i can't say that im getting used to the clips

Andy, I can understand your frustration - you are not the first person, by any means, who cannot pass the HPT.

But what can Red (or anyone else) do to help you? If you're practising with a qualified ADI, why can't that qualified ADI tell you the secret? They can't: there isn't a secret.

The stark reality is that if you are passing on all the practice disks (the Focus: Driving Test Success one, as well as any others out there) then you should pass the real one. There is nothing more to say. What can Red do to "support" you? They'll keep teaching you until you pass - whether it is next week or in 10 years time! How is that "not supporting" you?

You say "what the hell am I paying them for?" Well, you tell me, I'd love to know: what are they specifically not giving you that - if they did give you - you would pass?

Unfortunately, you have to pass Part 1 before you can take Part 2, so the ADI isn't helping by telling you you're ready. I hope it isn't one of those ADIs who dislikes Red, as that could make things worse still. No point them telling you you've made a mistake when you're stuck with a £3.5k-going-to-£7k-with-interest loan wrapped round your neck.

Reading between the lines I would imagine you're thinking you'd like to train with this ADI and you want that money written off so you can change tack. Is that about right?

Remember that if the Theory Test is your only gripe here, this ADI isn't going to get you to pass any easier than Red is allegedly not doing.

I'm delighted to say i passed my part 3 first time round. Reading all the comments on red it sounds like you have all put your eggs in one basket. You cannot rely on red themselves to pass you. You must spend as much time at home doing revision also budding up with people off the course in your spare time its the only way to pass. I'm sure if you want this bad enough you will do this. People who complain about red should say to themselves did i put enough effort into this??????????

Well done Matt!!!!

It's a real shame, but I doubt that there will be many who can see the wisdom in your line

Their argument is basically that they should have passed without even having to think, and it's Red's fault they didn't.

I have been looking at the comments about Red and getting more and more depressed as I signed up this year and am now finding it difficult to get lessons, just like many others. Just found this website but it sees to be deteriorating into a slanging match rather than victims sticking together and trying to find a way out of this.

Has anyone managed to take them to the small claims court or successfully managed to get out of their contract? Has anything changed since its shortcomings were highlighted on TV? Is it worth following up this avenue again and saying that nothing has changed? We should be sticking together.

You're making the mistake of assuming that everyone who has a moan or gripe is a 'victim' and not just an idiot looking to blame someone else for their problems. Which is precisely what most of the whingers who've posted on here are.

There's obviously more to your story than you're letting on - if you are getting lessons at all, and are well into your training, why not just finish it with what is available and stop moaning? I'm sure that if you couldn't get lessons at all, ever, you'd have made that clear. But you didn't.

If you fight to get you money back through small claims, win (unlikely), and then use the money to train via a different route, you'll take ten times longer to get to test standard than you will if you carry on as you are.

If you just don't want to be an instructor anymore because its harder than you thought, or not what you expected, or realise you jumped in with both feet without looking properly, or just don't want to have to pay back the loan you signed for, just admit it and stop exaggerating stories.

Then go to the Anti-red Facebook Group - they're the kind of people you're looking for.

Duplicate usernames are a definitely bannable offence.

AntiRed (Krazy Leader) got herself banned for that, and we lost about half a dozen storytellers as a result Wink

As it appears RED troops are being marshalled to swamp its negative image with long diversionary screeds, there's hardly enough room left for even single-name posters

I don't know, Dave. I can't speak for other people. But seeing as I don't lie, either, I wouldn't conceal it if I knew it was happening, so there you go.

Mind you, it seems to have given the lesser minds something to get their jaws around Wink
