replying to a posted ad

This is more of a query, than a feedback.

When I click to send a reply to a posted ad and enter my email address, how do I know that my reply was successfully received by the poster. Should I receive an email from gumtree confirming that my reply was sent to the poster? I have replied to a few ads, one I received an email showing my reply but others I have not. Could you please clarify. Thanks.

Hi miss_cellany,

Unfortunately, there's no way for us to know if your e-mail ever got through, although most of the time they do, so we can't provide a confirmation right now.

One thing we'll probably do in the near future is let you know if the address wasn't valid.

Most of the time you might not receive a reply because of the sheer volume of email some people get - especially when giving away their cars etc!
