having constantly reported illegal tobacco and cigarettes on the dundee gumtree i find that the adds are allowed to stay on....do the moderators actually check the adds????...if they do...then why do they allow illegal activity to continue on gumtree????....theres tobacco adds on the dundee site daily which very rarely get removed

I don't think they check every ad on the site. If the do- they probably check London mostly, as it's their biggest site. Even then, I think the priority is trying to removing fake/fraud ads.

i see the tobacco adds daily after several emails to gumtree..they are commiting a crime allowing imported tobacco to be sold on their site after being made aware of the problem....i'm actualy wondering how the tobacco adds are passed by moderators in the first place...dont they know their own rules????...i'm going to report the matter to the police

selling illegal imported tobacco is a crime..therefore initially it should be reported to the police...its their responcability to inform the customs..anyway...should'nt gumtree be doing something about it rather letting the adds stay up...just goes to show how much control the gumtree moderators actually have on adds...shows there a bit helpless.

I think there's bigger stuff to worry about than imported cigarettes. Even the police laugh at this matter...

Sad, you went from wringing about tobacco sellers to winging about a chipped VM box seller.
What is the World coming to when this is all people can do with their life?
You can buy Cigs on CQOut and on the WWW.
Chipped boxes on eBay, CQOut, QXL and on the WWW.

Stop blaming the Admin and Mods for not jumping when you say jump, they aren't here just for you.

BTW, I have nothing against you personally but you do 'go on' a bit. Shocked

I'm just interested why someone would join a Forum JUST to winge about Admin, Mods and sellers. That's why I was looking at your posting history, I was looking to see if you had 'helped' anymore or posted something 'non winging' but I couldn't find anything.

'Donkeys ago' and what's happened since then, Sweet fa, so what's that tell you? Get a Hobby Bobby.

Sorry Bob....I'm afraid I was at work when this bod was posting, we can't all sit at a computer all day reporting dodgy adverts!

It simply looks like someone else has identified you as an anorak!

You have my humblest appologies Bobby!....It kinda reads like you might have suspected me of having a veiled 'dig' at you using another identity!

But you are taking the reporting of posts a bit too seriously....considering nobody at Gumtree ever seems to bother doing much about it!

apology accepted gracefully.....the guy was advertising for bits for a pajero with the same numbers he was selling his stuff...so i assumed he got one after selling his punto....an i maybe am going a bit over the top....i'm just pissed off that they never do anything.....same as the pets....an all the other stuff...seems they dont give a toss about things....so i thought i'd highlight it.....maybe highlighted it a bit much...lol .....if they take one of his posts down...he puts 2 back up...they cant stop him....dont see the point in the report button..totaly useless...what they need is people in each town moderating....not a few for the whole world..lot of people getting scammed on here...even though they say face to face....so they gotta take a bit of credit for that...most other sites vet the adds

Yep, I know what you're saying....I highlighted a couple of 'faults' not long ago & it felt like I would have been better off hitting my head off a brick wall!

There does seem a lack of real interest from Gumtree themselves, maybe thats just gonna be the way it is?

I suppose there's a limit to what the Mods and Admin Staff can 'do' to sort out the 'problems' on here. It would take too long to scroll through every single post.
It's the People that have created 'the demand' or are stupid enough to fall for the scams. No demand, no Cig or Virgin box posts. If people just thought "if it's too good to be true then it is a scam" then the scammers will stop trying so hard.

your foreign scammers will continue as thats all they can do, life in nigeria, cameroon and romania being fairly grim. you are never going to stop them and i think the best way forward is to raise peoples awareness that there are scammers and the methods (usually involving western union and moneygram) that they use to extract dough from you.

the problem being people get blinded by a bargain or a way out of the trouble they are in, eg a great paying stay at home job.

Agreed Crying or Very sad
These Scams have been going for as long as the WWW has been around but I think people are more 'desperate' to make a 'fast buck' they will try anything. Embarassed
