hi
i would like to work during summer somewhere in london (f.ex.as nanny, or in bar), however i've heard that it is extremely difficult to find job in June or July, especially for young people(i'm 1Cool. is it really so?

i'm from Poland, so I don't want to take a risk, knowing that this idea is doomed to failure from the same beginning.

bar work is difficult to get, as most students take it all!

Working as a nanny or something would be easier.

give it a try.. if u know english on a good level, u should find some waiting/bar job.. just keep looking - don't give up! the other thing is if u wanna be a nanny, driving licence would be an advantage..
ps. i'm polish as well, but i'd feel a bit tactless speaking polish on a english forum.. ;P

I was sure that somebody write it.. but it was my first and the last time. I was too tired to write in English... What's a pity that polish isn't a international language like English;)

Pozdrawiam:)

there are many more people coming to London this year than summer 2005, so you may try your luck though if you don't have references, experience and speak excellent English your chances are greatly diminished.. I went through that last year and although I speak English almost native-like I couldn't find job because of still being Polish...

and how about getting a phone call like that:
- We've read your CV and we want to have an interview.
(Fixing a date)
-So what's your name again? And where are you from?
-Poland.
-No way, fuck off you cheat (and so on)

Could you explain what was his point? Or can't they read?? To make it worse it was not a single case.. It seems that most of them don't listen to you until they start their questions.

I've got experience in looking for a job, and believe, although there are so many offers, only few of them for Polish.

i've never experienced such situation personally - they always were more gently and said: "ok, we'll give you a call" Very Happy but it's common everywhere..

yes, obviously I encountered some warm reception from employers, but it seems to me that especially in London Poles are not welcome.. finally I found a job outside London and I was very happy with it
