We are travelling from Perth to Cairns on The Outback Way which is known as the Longest Shortcut. It cuts a track, on registered roads diagonally across Australia...not the normal route. You will need a 4WD we are hiring a Britz Xtreme 4WD camper. The trek is almost 5,000km and about 2/3 of it is on dirt.
Ever wanted to do an off road adventure but been a bit anxious, then join us! We are a small film crew filming the trek.
Join us for the whole trip or join us in Alice Springs for half the trek.Does this interest you?

I reckon we will be doing this trek starting about end of first week in October 2009 from Perth or you can join us in Kalgoorlie where we will be most likely starting the trek from.

At this stage there is no fees, you just have to tag along and take care of your own food, camping and drinks.

We will just all travel together. It might be neat if you were to but a little UHF radio like a CB so that we can all chat as we travel along.....there will be a few of us I reckon.

It would be great to have you along

hey Emma 656

the cost will vary if you are travelling alone or if you want to share the costs with some friends and hire a 4WD.. what I would suggest is that if you check out www.britz.com.au or www.backpacker.com.au and get a quote on a vehicle.

You coudl for example get a vehicle pick it up in Perth and let it off in Alice Springs and or pick up a vehicle in Alice Springs and drop it off in Cairns for example, you may want to just do 2,000 of the 4,000 km trip.

Hiya - I think I'm sending this a little late, but here goes... Love the idea of getting involved with your plans. Am 42 going on 24, with no particular ties and taking a 'career break, due to take in Australia during this October. If there is still room for the odd interested person such as myself, I'd love to hear back. I teach in the leisure/tourism field back here in the UK - though don't hold that against me.... Glenn.
