looking for work abroad, but confused!!

Hiya

I've been wanting to work abroad for a few months or so, for some time now but i never know how to go about it. My boyfriend is interested in going to the usa but i dont know how strict it is to get a visa there, it seems like you need a degree to work there which i dont have! i dont even know who i would speak to find more info about getting one. Then there's applying for jobs, accommodation, saving up - it seems all a bit dauntin!

I also like the idea of working in Spain, but again i have no idea who i should contact about jobs. I've been looking on websites but it all seems a bit confusing Confused

I just dont know how to plan any of it out, but i just know its something that i reeeally want to do!

If anyone has worked abroad or knows any info on any good websites or places i can visit that deals with work placements abroad, please let me know, i would much appreciate it Smile

hey, if you were really so keen on doing it, you would have done some efforts already?
But I know that it is not easy, I came abroad last October and work in my profession.

Do you want a proper job (like that what you studied, learnt) or any like waiting, farmwork... If you go for that check the web for work and travel options in the country you want.
For farming I did wwoofing in New Zealand, which is working for accomodation and food and living with hte family, but you won't get any money for that.
If you want a real job, you have to find companies and apply... unfortunately.

About visas etc you have to check out for the specific country, embassies, websites etc... I think it also depends on how long you want to stay.

I hope it's not a problem if I ask my question here. Within the next two years, I would like to move to Germany. Right now I'm in the data gathering process so to say. Smile

Does anyone know how the 401k plans in Germany are structured compared to the ones in the USA? Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

I'd go to thailand, vietnam or cambodia.. You'd need to look into it yourselves but you can train to get your dive certificates (PADI course) This you'll have to pay for thoughm but it's cheap in Asia, but there are some dive shops who will pay for you to train as long as you work for them afterwards. I have several mates who now just spend their time out in Asia going from place to place working as Diving instructors. It can be tiring with not much privacy especially when your a couple but well worth the effort. Thats of course if you like diving!
Rainbow divers in Vietnam comes to mind as a free place to earn your PADI.

Just reading through the forums and totally forgot, you can always teach english, most countries are screaming out for English teachers and to be honest it's a very basic standard. You'll earn enough to live easily.

for jobs in europe where you don't need a visa, (if you're from the uk) check out anyworkanywhere.com, if you fancy doing a winter season check out natives.co.uk or seasonal workers.co.uk (i think).

if you want to work outwith the EU, you don't need a degree. you can get a working holiday visa. check out BUNAC which lets you know what you need etc or check out the countrys embassy weboage wher you can apply direct and save some cash. remember tht BUNAC is a business and will take loads of cash of you. great though if you have a lot of cash to spare!! i've been doing this sort of thing for years and the worst thing is to turn up to a country and hope that you land on your feet. that's fine in you have friends there and some spare ££££.

also, cash in hand work outwith the EU isn't gauranteed so always get a visa. i did that in Canada where i stayed for 2 years or so and now wont be allowed back in. probably.....

it is daunting and hard to know where to start or how to so to say you're not that interested is a load of rubbish.

good luck!! and don't work for food and accommodation.... only if its part time and you can earn your own cash. also, nannying.....

by eu Law you as EU Citizen can search Work all over Europe Union
Sozial service is in some Countries realy good,and Pension as well

why dnt u try china or southeast asia, its cheap you can work and travel at the same time and u will enjoy it.
