Hi,
I rented a flat from TDL homes during the fall 2008 when I studied in Glasgow. Everything was fine, but once we moved out the problems started. First of all, I had to wait for deposit about 4 months (after about 20 emails/calls to them and hearing 100's of excuses) I finally got the deposit. The cost for the utility bills was deducted from the deposit, which was fine with me.
A couple of weeks ago however, I received a "final notice" from the Scottish Hydro for the electricity. I called them and said that this was already paid by to the landlord/TDL Homes, but thier response was that I'm responsible for the bill and that they couldn't solve this with the landlord. I had to pay the bill (again) which was about 410£.
After several emails to TDL Homes, I still have not received an answer. When trying to call them the boss "is never at the office" and of course no one knows anything about this (eventhough I added the other workers email when sending the emails).
The problem is that I live in Sweden, therefore I'm having trouble confronting them in person. To me this sounds like fraud, that they charged for something that the can't and making me pay for it twice. I just want to get the money back I paid to TDL Homes for the electricity. I have receipts and everything - I also log each call/email in case I need legal advice.
Can anyone let me know who I shall talk to? Is there any kind of "ombudsman" that can handle this, or can I report them for fraud? Who shall I talk to in that case?
I really appreciate all answers, as this issue is getting really frustrated for me.
Best regards,
Johan |
