I dont very often jump in the chatroom anymore, now that Im back in Australia, but I used to be a regular for 2 years in the chatroom, and met a few people that work at the gumtree at a pub for drinks once.. The new chat forums are terrible, it will take the fun away from the chatroom, still to this day I cannot find another chatroom that was as much fun as the madhouse, hence why I still jump in to have a read every now and than. But with the new setup, it will be impossible to imposter - which was one of the great things about the madhouse and GIB. and its not as quick to reply.. I predict that you will lose a lot of regulars in the chat room due to the change.
Its a shame |

| Extremely dissapointed that you have changed the format of the forum, also no politics and current affairs, the fun and community feel has gone from this board, In your old forums you used to be able to flow with conversation fast and easily. This style format takes away the essence of what Gumtree's unique forums were about. Deeply dissapointed and would hesitate to visit again once I find a new one elswhere that is similar to your old one. Bring back the old format or lisk losing a lot of users because judging from the posts on the board today I think you have made a grave mistake. |

The new format for the madhouse is awful
The novelty of gumtree was that there wasn't another community website like it, and we liked it just as it was.
It used to be a place where you could directly interact with other people and catch up with friends. Now this has all been changed and our room will be sadly missed.
Please bring it back |

| It may be an idea to add a section for senior posts, management, and executive like there is on some other free sites Craig's list for one. |

| A section for feedback on businesses who list items for sale so when considering buying from a company there is some comments from previous customers etc. |

This new forum is really boring now, i had just started using the madhouse before you changed it and was a good laugh, yes there were a few sicko's but nothing that couldnt be handled. Why cant you just set the Madhouse to what it used to be and leave the rest?????
Cheerio! |

| hi all id like to be able to edit or change a post in the forum also id like gumtree to make users be a little more specific about where ppl are from only so when replying for those who cant travel(friend/partners section) know where the poster is roughly from e.g there are loads of areas in london, north southeast west, if anyone doesnt wanna disclose area, what about disclosing the area not far away so they cannot be pinpointed... |

| Hi, I just wanted to say I used Gumtree to advertise for a website designer to complete a job in two days. I provided my telephone number as a contact. By the time I'd received an e-mail from Gumtree to say my payment had been processed, I'd already received about 30 calls!! In the end I took about 60 calls before I deleted my telephone number and used an e-mail contact. 50 e-mails later I deleted the ad and replaced it with a thank you note. This is the first time I've used Gumtree for jobs and I'd recommend it to anyone!!! Thank you for a great site which is accessible and affordable to a 'tiny' business owner like me! |

It would be best if people had to register, with a valid email, in order to post in the forums. There are faaaar to many racist bigots spreading bile about with impunity. I feel they'd be less inclined to do so if they thought there was a chance they could be more easily tracked and prosecuted.
This would make for less pointless arguments and less people being offended.

Hi,
Any chance of adding a 'quick reply' box at the bottom of the screen.

It has realy started annoying me how people have started advertising themselves in the jobs area! Its annyoing, and i am not looking to hire anyone, but looking for a job just like them!
Will it be possible for you to open up an area where they can post themselves on it. That way, interested people can read it, and the others can continue looking what they are looking for.
Frankly, since they have started advertising themselves, it has realy started bugging me and i now hardly ever come to the site.

I love this site!
One thing though...is there an option for people who advertise rooms and flats to check whether or not pets are allowed? Like some kind of up front field where the poster can tick off whether cats are allowed or whether dogs are allowed.
Cheers! |

Thanks for the comments.
Please keep this thread on topic - it is for suggestions relating to the Gumtree Forums in particular - there's another thread for suggestions relating to the site in general.
Thanks! |

Hello. I posted an idea (topic) about an overseas student forum. It would be nice if you could give me a bit of feedback on the idea.
Thanks.

We might not reply to all suggestions but we do have a good look at them all and have in the past used many of the ideas given to us by Gummies...so keep them coming!

| same here i'd volunteer, there are many members like bluey for instance, very helpful, always here, a bit of financial incentive may persuade him to help out on the spam side? |
