Give us the gumtree users a poll for the confessions section
Should confessions come back to gumtree? Yes/No
That would be fair to all of us don't you think? |

Dear Gumtree
Have you considered having a problem/advice column?.I ask as I am always being told that I give good advice on a vast rangeof subjects from Boyfriends to children and everything in between.I am also good at re sourcing information if I don't know the answer toa question.I would be willing to answer any questions if you are interested inlooking into this idea further.I have not had written experience so far in writing a column but feelthat I am capable of doing so.I look forward to hearing from you Londonflower |

The forums are 60-70% porn advertisements.
I know the admins are busy, but please pick a few regular forum posters to moderate and give them the right to delete posts and delete users for blatent spam and porn. |

Since the launch of the creative writing section, I think it would be a great idea to have a similar forum where people can discuss each other's writing, give feedback, exchange tips or discuss books, plays etc. It would be a really useful addition and apart from myself I know several other GT users who are writing as well and I think it would quickily become a much-valued part of the tree.
There are several similar forums on sites I've seen and they are very popular. I'd love to see a Gumtree "Writer's Room" forum soon. |

Hi Monarch
We have a few regulars with special permissions to deal with exactly this kind of problem - they are known as Community Moderators. Sorry to hear that you have noticed quite a lot of it though. Although this porn spam it is definitely a problem, between the Gumtree admin and the Community Moderators we normally manage to get rid of it pretty quickly. But we are still working on more ways to prevent it....hopefully you'll notice some improvements soon.
Thanks |

Thanks for this great suggestion! We will take a look at this idea and see if we get enough interest from other users. At the moment the Community Forum is a good place to have these kind of discussions but obviously it isn't dedicated forum for writers. |

Hi guys. Any chance of a "Advice for those moving to London wanting to know safe areas" piece at the top?
There are so many people on the forum wanting to know which areas of London are safe/unsafe.
If they went to the Metropolitan Police website, they can see crime stats by month or year and by different crimes, for every borough.
It would save people like me a lot of typing telling lots of these people to visit the met police site.
Cheers |

I think an area where you can post a 'service wanted'.
an example: I have been looking for a gardener in SE1 and called about 10 people who advertised on Gumtree offering a gardening service in London, All London etc.
I had only 1 who would actually come to SE1, the rest felt it out of their way etc.
If I could post a job and have potential gardeners come to me then at least I would have people who I know will come to my area and willing to do the job. |

just put you enter this at your own risk |

to the last couple of ideas posted -
a safe areas of London sticky in the Accommodation forum is a great idea, but it would depend on your definition of safe! but maybe an ongoing thread where people can discuss?
I also like the Services Wanted idea, that could potentially be an extra feature in our Business Services listing, we'll take a look at it and see what we can do.
but a nasty forum? we try and keep that out wherever possible!
thanks guys, keep the suggestions coming! |

Add a 'Flat Mate wanted' section to the Accommodation ads where people who want to group together prior to looking for a property together.
This is so people can post who the type of flat-mate they are seeking and the type of property/area they intend to look for.
There's sporadic 'flat mate wanted' messages in the Accommodation forum but something a bit more systematic might be better and it covers separate people coming together as a group before undertaking an accommodation search. |

How about an unmovable topic for people that have had their ads removed? The actual scammers would never bother with communicating with you but real people like myself who get caught up in your net would then be able to communicate in an adult fashion and hopefully get their problems addressed |

This would only work if the gumtree personnel didn't ban people like you from replying to posts Jem
Unban Jem and lets get on with being sensible |
Dude, she had a sensible discusion.

I work for an Outdoor Activity Centre, and will shortly start recruiting for 2008 instructors. We regularily use other websites to advertise but this site has been recommended to me.
However in order for it to be worthwhile posting jobs on this site I would require a new job category titled Outdoor Instructors or Activity Instructors or something similar. You will find with this title you will get a lot of new business, advertisers will currently be put off by the fact that there is no category at then moment and adverts would be lost and wasted in "general jobs"
If you can help then i look foward to advertising with you in the future. |

I want to post ads in Bulgaria. The market here is exploding! Could you add Bulgaria to the list of countries , as well as the major places of RE sales like Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, Bansko, Sunny Beach, Burgas, The Black Sea Coast. |

What about a trial run? Give us the edit facility for a couple of days, then switch it off and see what the feedback is?

| A PM/private message feature would be useful, for all members, but it would particularly benefit mods. Many message board forums have this feature. |
