I've been away in a few meetings but I noticed that most of those have been removed. It was probably 10 minutes after you flagged them which is not bad considering the verification that the mod team has to go through.
Further proof that mods are doing a better job than they get credit for! |

No problem.
I do that everyday. Browse through the ads and report all the scams . |

Thanks joinin
To answer the above yes, it is easy to spot the scams
They post flats in very desirable areas, mostly central London. Knightsbridge, South Kensington, Islington, etc.
They post pictures of beautiful flats and they advertise extremley cheap.
£150 for a 1 bed, £200 for 2 bed, or £200 pw 1 bed in Chelsea, etc |

Hey Mr_X, that kind of info would be useful to forum users on the new gumtree tips forum. Would you like to share your knowledge of flat scams in a new thread there?

the problem with Gumtree at the moment is that the ads are all over the place and sometimes you need to report an ad a cuople of times before it is removed.
i believe this has put people off looking at Gumtree, the increase in users is probably the scam artists??
the other thing with Gumtree is that it doesnt monitor the ads, so they just leave it to us to report the ads.
their posting rules state that people breaking the posting rules will be banned! what a joke, i report the same estate agents ads daily and the next day the same agents are posting their ads into the private property category again. these ads simply advertise their businesses and should be posted into the Services category.
gumtree must be losing a fortune, if it enforced its own rules then all of these agents would either be paying for a subscription to use Gumtree and/or they would be paying to advertise their business into the Services category.
Until Gumtree starts to enforce its own rules the site will continue to be full of spam and scams, yet the admins/mods will continue to insist that thats not the case..haha..laughable really. |
