Hi
I am in a bit of a dliemma..I am 27 years of age..I have a masters degree in finance..I have had a real hard time finding a job...the whole process of job hunting really frightens me..filling out long application forms, telephone interviews, face to face interview and then the assessment center...

About 2 months ago I bought a franchise selling food product inside a busy shopping mall (low investment less than £6000)..Its going really well and I have already recovered half of my money.. I am already in the middle of starting another same franchise in a different shopping mall..

Now I am a bit confuse..sometime I think to myself all the hard work that I did at university will be gone to waste if I dont get a job and it makes me a bit depressed..but then on the other hand I say to myelf that in few years time if this business continues the way it is I will be earning more than I would if i was employed..

Can someone pls give me advice on how not to feel bad about myself and the fact that my degree has gone to waste due to starting my own business. I thank you all in advance for yoyr useful input..

Mnay thanks
Andy

Hi,

I am also 27years old polish lady with double masters degree in economics (one degree from Poland, second from Germany). I am living in Ireland ca. 3 years now. During 3 years time I have changed my jobs 8 times, working full time and part time on the same time, looking for an opportunity to do something different than being sales consultant in most of the shops. I started professional qualifications QFA and have got few contracts with banks - but only short term contracts. I have had thousands interviews in Dublin and Cork, aptitude tests, where I was 100% successful. Bank of Ireland in Dublin promised me position last year on July and after two months this position was cancelled 'because of recession' - they told me. After 3 years time I am still in the same starting point and I don't have even permanent full time position. I don't have parents, family I can ask for help, I have to help my mum and sister living in Poland. I have to pay for everything here on my own...and no, I don't have husband or boyfriend helping me....and yes, I have spent 5 years studying hard for doing what I am doing now...

the most important thing to consider is your happiness.. if what you're doing makes you happy and will continue to do so, why not keep doing it?
