Hi all and thanks for reading
Thinking seriously about taking a possible 6 month career break.
Relationship and the home can easily be accommodated with me
disappearing but in the uncertain economic times I'm trying to wing
it where I take a period of 6 months unpaid leave as opposed to
handing in my notice...the company operates such a practice but
at managements discretion but even raising the subject is likely to
raise alarm bells, hence my quandary?
Traveled a fair bit in years gone by but have stagnated somewhat in the
realms of relationships and the 9-5 over the past 10 years.
If anyone has trod this path or has some insightful comments, suggestions
or otherwise I'd be very keen to hear them.
There's a book 'feel the fear and do it anyway' which I fully understand
but I guess as I'm not 21 anymore I feel a little wiser approach is called
for
Thanks .... Happy travels....Steve. |

Hi steve,,,,
I approached my company asking for a 4 month career break.
Like you, I didnt want it to raise alarm bells so I made the whole experience one big life lesson which I could then bring back to the company and be a better "worker"...!
It was bull obviously, and in the end they said no as we were "too busy",.,,,but on principle they thought it was a good idea and the company would benefit....
good luckk! |
