Ive tried to search the ads here but all I see are morons posting houseshare ads in the studio/1 bedroom section.

So is £400/month sufficient? I dont want to use an agent because Ive heard nothing but bad things, but would that be a viable route? I dont want to sift through all of these scams and flatshares.

If you are in London then no chance.
Many other areas of the UK then yes it will be enough.

You'd be lucky to get a bog standard room in an average property is a not particularly nice area of London for £100 per week let alone a self-contained property.

Never pay upfront to receive property listings or in order to be shown the property - ads for low price bargain studios is the hallmark of accommodation finding agencies who fake tempting adverts for properties that they don't actually have, in order to persuade victims to cough up large upfront fees.

After paying these 'admin' or 'viewing appointment fees', the agency then sends the sucker to dingy bedsits at twice the price in rotten areas.

London, never

Up your budget to £600 minimum and you have a chance. £700 would be more realistic though
