Hey
I have an interview for a recruitment consultant this week and just wondering if anyone can offer any tips.. this is a big career change for me and i am hoping it isn’t too 'sales' focussed.. any tips from anyone in the industry about what to expect or what to say in the interview?
Thanks!! |

Umm, hate to be the barer of bads news but this is a sales focused role! You will be given targets for the sake of targets and have to make anything from 50 to 250 calls per month.
What industry is the position? Is it temp or perm? You really need to ask what sort of money the desk is currently making (a desk is temp or perm and what it is recruiting for). Given the current economic climate you may want to ask what they are doing differently to set them aside from the competition. It is tough out there at the moment and is very candidate driven! Agencies that typically charge 35% are negotiating to 15% per permanent placement!
As for the interview, stay focused and positive! Let them know that you always make positives out of negatives and most importantly, be yourself!!
Please feel free to ask any questions and I will try and answer them for you!!
Good luck |

| I was in recruitment several years ago when the market was good and it was still tough as it's very competitive in most industries. if you're good you can make decent money, if not you may not last long. The industry is known for having a high turnover of staff. |
