Here are the rules of this forum in easy to read bullet point form. Please understand these before interacting with the forum. We will operate a one warning system. If this is ignored, you will be permanently banned. The interpretation of these rules remains the admin’s discretion:

• Community rules as posted here http://forums.gumtree.com/viewtopic.php?t=137260 still apply and the rules below are an expansion on these.
• One warning system is in place.
• No aggressive trolling. Sure we will have arguments and debates but when it gets personal / ugly, warnings will be issued. This is up to the moderators’ discretion.
• Trolling of actual Gumtree users making Genuine comments about Gumtree is an instant ban. Unless you are helping them out, just leave them alone.
• No raiding (or whatever you call it) of other forums. Instant ban and your details will be reported to legal.
• Likewise, deliberately inflammatory comments may warrant warnings and eventually a banning.
• No animated avatars or animated images in the post or signature. You can of course use the standard animated smileys provided on the forum. This rule may be relaxed in the future but for now, they are out of hand.
• No links in signatures, including email links.
• Websites in profiles should not be to business / self promotional website. These will asked to be removed.
• No quoting a post with previously banned material in it, such as pictures and links for the sake of keeping the banned material on the board visible.
• Having more than three multis (a multi means more than one username) is an ‘instant ban’ offence.
• Obviously stuff that is against civilised law will earn you an instant ban as well: Bullying / picking on anyone, racism, sexism,
• No porn, sexual explicitness.
No excessively inflammatory or abusive posts about religions, yours or any others. If you feel the need to discuss it, be fair and factual. The mods have the right to end the thread based on their judgment. Any deliberate attempts at inflammation can earn a warning or a ban.
• Excessive profanity will get a warning.
• Posting anyone else’s personal details is an ‘instant ban’ offence.
• No reference to performing something of a sexual nature on one of the other members either as an offer or an insult. This is an instant ban.
• No use of proxies. This will result in an instant ban.
• No self promotion of your business / service on the forum. Use Gumtree.com for that.
Use the chat forum for chatting. All the other forums are for Q&A and Gumtree feedback. If you start chatting or take chat issues to these forums, this will result in straight warnings and bans.
• Same goes for answering questions from users in the Q&A forums, if you have a good answer go for it, if you attempt the slightest of trolls etc it may be an instant ban depending on how bad it is. People need to be able to ask questions without fear of abuse.

• Previously banned members who find their way back onto the forum under another name will be instantly banned and IP banned.
If a login is being shared, that login will be banned.
• Any attempt at harrassing/irritating etc fellow forum members will result in a warning then ban.
• Flooding of the forum of course is an instant ban and IP ban.
• Quoting what other users have said on the forum in your signature is generally an act of inflammation and can earn you a warning.
• Excessively approaching the admins / mods unnecessary request can earn you a warning. It can also be considered flooding if there are too many threads about the same thing.

Apologies.......what with the move from Tooting to a little village in South Oxfordshire, the teenage mandid's arrival in the UK, no home internet access I found that posting here was not a priority......
When I did look see what was going on I generally decided to duck and avoid the bullets being shot in various directions.

Jon, not telling you what to do, but maybe you should make this a global announcement. You know, on all the forums, not just here.

It'll be in the thread where they got it wrong so if they don't see it, thats their own problem

• No aggressive trolling. Sure we will have arguments and debates but when it gets personal / ugly, warnings will be issued. This is up to the moderators’ discretion. fair enough

• No raiding (or whatever you call it) of other forums. Instant ban and your details will be reported to legal. legal what ? is it illegal to post on other forums whilst you post on gt Shocked

Don't be ridiculous, some people in here have planned malicious raids on other forums. This forum can be closed down by legal action if we let it happen

• Likewise, deliberately inflammatory comments may warrant warnings and eventually a banning. fair enough

• No animated avatars or animated images in the post or signature. You can of course use the standard animated smileys provided on the forum. This rule may be relaxed in the future but for now, they are out of hand. this one has annoyed me cause i want my licky cat back ..this rule is petty and stupid

It may be relaxed but the anis end up having all sorts of swearwords and provocative imagery in them and detract from the main point of being here: the conversation.

• No links in signatures, including email links. ok

• Websites in profiles should not be to business / self promotional website. These will asked to be removed. ok

• No quoting a post with previously banned material in it, such as pictures and links for the sake of keeping the banned material on the board visible. and if someone does and didnt realise it was previously banned..then what ?

We'll just tell people to stop, if not, then warnings and ban

• Having more than three multis (a multi means more than one username) is an ‘instant ban’ offence. booooo killing all the fun, multis are mainly harmless ffs

I disagree and they make the forums impossible to manage

• Obviously stuff that is against civilised law will earn you an instant ban as well: Bullying / picking on anyone, racism, sexism, errr.. who decides if something is racist ? or if someone is being bullied ???

Admins, that's our job. But you will know you've crossed the line before you write it because it would have to be harsh to get a banning.

• No porn, sexual explicitness. ok

• Extreme political and religious views will have the mods deleting such threads and possibly warning you. This is not to say anyone is right or wrong but Gumtree is not the place to discuss such issues and we cannot accept liability for such comments. there goes heated debates

• Excessive profanity will get a warning. define excessive ???

A lot

• Posting anyone else’s personal details is an ‘instant ban’ offence. agreed

• No reference to performing something of a sexual nature on one of the other members either as an offer or an insult. This is an instant ban. even as a a joke ?? Shocked

Not even as a joke

• No use of proxies. This will result in an instant ban. you want to exclude people who browse the forum at work ??? WTF ?

If you are browsing at work through a proxy, you are breaking that company's rules and is a sackable offence usually. We cannot endorse illegal activities.

• No self promotion of your business / service on the forum. Use Gumtree.com for that. OK

• Previously banned members who find their way back onto the forum under another name will be instantly banned and IP banned. even those who were banned for no reason ??????

• Flooding of the forum of course is an instant ban and IP ban. define flooding .. what if i post a lot in one day, lots of topics all started by me..is that flooding ???

No flooding tends to be spammy in nature and repetitive about the same thing, usually malicious

• Quoting what other users have said on the forum in your signature is generally an act of inflammation and can earn you a warning. actually jon its all[ wait was ] done in jest.. ever heard of banter ???

This rule is one that I will relax when people stop tearing eachother apart

• Excessively approaching the admins / mods unnecessary request can earn you a warning. It can also be considered flooding if there are too many threads about the same thing.
so the mods can ignore us time and time again.. good one

No but some people use it as an excuse to flood and it everyone does it, then its impossible to answer the valid questions. We will always listen to suggestions.

Those are my answers and the rules that are there, I am sticking with. I am not going through this exercise with you again.

Your turn to reply now Jon..thats how forums work..so i heard Smile
