Hi I am posting this ad due to me nearly becoming scammed myself by one the ads posted by these people. some posts today by these people have been reported to gumtree & the poliice!

BE CAREFULL WHEN RESPONDED TO AN AD, THESE PEOPLE CURRENLY ARE USING 5 DIFFERENT BREEDS OF DOGS & THE PICTURES OF THE DOGS/PUPPYS ALL HAVE STAGED PICTURES.
THEY ARE NOT FREE AS THE ADS SUGGEST, AND WILL PROBABLY ASK YOU O TRANSFER MOENY TO THEM& THEY WILL SHIP THE PUPPY TO YOU.

THE NAME THAT APPEARS ON THESE ADS IS " CARRICKSON"
THE CONTACT NUMBER ON THESE ADS IS "07031873871"
and are posted on all the following gumtree citys :-
swansea,cardiff,plymouth,bristol,leeds,hull,london,newcastle,dublin,exeter,gloucester, cork, belfast,york,sheffield, swindon & bath and these are the ones i have just come accross so far.

PLEASE DONT GET SCAMMED BY THESE PEOPLE AND IF YOU DO COME ACCROSS THEM OF ANY OF THEE ADS PLEASE REPORT TO GUMTREE & THE POLICE.

IF THIS AD JUST PREVENTS ONE PERSON FROM GETTING SCAMMED I WILL BE HAPPY.

HI all moderators, I have a question as a regular user of gumtree for some time now. I thought because the ads did not go immediately live that ads placed were vetted by gumtree staff. Does this happen? if so how are these type of ads getting through? if not maybe this is a practice that should be put to the gumtree site owner. So it protects its customers.

i have nowt to do with the ads

the volume is such i believe its fairly automatic

cameroonian scammers seem to have found a wee niche regarding pet ads
and i am assured gumtree are working on it

my personal view is that educating punters is the key as you will never stop scammers

yeah your probably right... making people aware by word of mouh so to speak is probably the best way.

do you know if there an easy was to place the same ad on every city?
as i would like to add one regarding the scams to every city to warn people.


also a little update the polce have got back to me and should be contacting gumtree abotu this matter.

I even recommended sthat they could suggest having some one from the police force posting on the gumtree forum a place where these scams could be reported to .. or more infkfo on how to deal with them.
weather they do this or not is another thing though.

the problem with warnings is no one reads them

the problem with posting warnings is that you risk being banned from posting
