HAVING REPORTED GOD KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES THAT THERE IS A SELLER IN EDINBURGH USING THE WANTED SECTION TO BUY OLD CABLE BOXES....THEN POSTING THEM IN TV / GENERAL FOR SALE AT £90 EACH..I FIND IT TOTALY INCREDIBLE THEY DONT STOP HIM....IF ONE OF HIS POSTS GETS TOOK DOWN....HE'LL PUT 2 BACK UP STRAIGHT AWAY...OBVIOUSLY HE'S ON THE SOCIAL SECURITY AN SITS AT HIS COMPUTER ALL DAY....IF ONE OF HIS ADDS GETS TOOK DOWN...WITHIN MINUTES...THERE BACK UP.......I'VE REPORTED HIM TO GUMTREE LOTS OF TIMES....I'VE ALSO REPORTED HIM TO VIRGIN MEADIA FRAUD SECTION....AND LOTHIAN AND BORDERS POLICE FRAUD SECTION........DONT TELL ME TO USE THE REPORT BUTTON ON THE RIGHT.....IF YOU LOOK IN EDINBURGH AND TYPE IN CABLE BOX......YOU'LL SEE ADDS THERE ALL THE TIME....NON STOP....SEVERAL SECTIONS.....TV / GENERAL / WANTED...YOU TELL ME GUMTREE IS DOING ITS BEST AND I'LL LAUGH....THIS GUY IS TAKING THE PISS OUT OF GUMTREE RULES AND STAFF...HE IS ALSO SELLING ILLEGAL BOXES TO STEAL VIRGIN SERVICES....YOU TELL ME WHY GUMTREE CANT STOP HIM????????? Gumtree can't stop him because it's a police matter. Gumtree are not the police. Gumtree can remove his ads, but as you say, he just re-posts new ones every time they do. So, quite simply, be wary. As is stated in the Gumtree Safety section.

hi jon.....thanks for your mail.......i' not angry...i'm just annoyed.....after reporting these many times...they stayed up for 24 hours..whats the point in taking time to report these if gumtree does nothing about them.....an i assumed it was easier to read capitals...was'nt shouting or anything.....i know gumtree are'nt the police...but they should be at least policing there own website..ie...removing illegal stuff...this guys been at it for months in edinburgh selling his illegal cable boxes......i dont mind reporting them....but i do mind the lack of responce from gumtree an helping this criminal make money.

yeah....well....the guy made it personal by posting a message to me...i'm only highlighting the fact that gumtree are not in control of their own website...they rely on people reporting posts before anything is done about them...they give the impression that they are in charge....well..if they are.....how are they not able to deal with this guy??....gumtree is being used more for scammer/criminals/conmen only because they are allowed to...an the police have got enough to do without policing gumtree...why does gumtree not do it?

Are you aware of the amount of people that they would have to employ to look at every ad posted before it went live .
If the guy emailed you then you should have his ip , just pass it along to the police or forward the story to sky or virgin and I am sure that their legal departments would have more of an effect of closing him down than gumtree would

ohhhh..i thought the forums was to advise an warn others of scams ect....he has been reported to the lothian an borders police...virgin fraud...edinburgh trading standards...he was stupid enough to sell a fiat punto with the same phone number...all the details have been passed on.....but i'm totaly puzzled why gumtree cant stop hm posting his illegal stuff????..afdter all...if they did....then it would leave the police to get on with more important stuff..theres a reason why people call it scamtree / scumtree ...because there allowing all this stuff to go on their website..an they dont give a toss about it.....they have a responsibility to keep running a website...one they failed a long time ago...the crooks / scammers / spammers / conmen love gumtree...it allows their illegal activity to go on....i actually have a few hobbys....but thanks for the concern...its obvious the staff at gumtree have hobbies aswell...this place.

there is a guy in edinburgh selling illegal cable boxes on a website called gumtree....its all in gumtree edinburgh..general / tv section ....they have been reported to gumtree lots of times but there is nothing they can do....he buys the boxes on gumtree edinburgh wanted section...chips them....then sells them in gumtree edinburgh general / tv section....he uses different numbers but i've got a list of numbers.....he has also used these numbers to advertise a car for sale...and to advertise for cars wanted....the details are below........
