Hello, I live in a small Scottish town, in an house near a river...
Since the beginning I moved there, I started to have "visits" from spiders and woodlice...I remember once there was a spider 5-6 cm wide in my room, with small body but long legs, and another time I found two 3-4 cm ones, one of them near my bed, just before going to sleep (imagine if I hadn't noticed, and he would have walked on me, like once happened with a small 1 cm wide one)...
Regarding woodlice, since a few weeks ago I found them on average 1-2 per day, mostly in the kitchen and in the bathroom, but there have been cases of 3-4 found all at once, especially after it rains...Usually I find them dead, but I've also seen some alive, including once when I got up during the night, and there were two of them moving near my bed...
Because of all the stress involved with this (I hate insects, bugs, mouses, ecc...I come from a country where we have poisonous spiders, but in more than 20 years never saw things so big in my house...I had to come so north in Europe to have this "experiences" and stress), I also once preferred to sleep in an hostel (30£/night), because the two nights before I had slept only for 4 hours, because of the phobia of having a spider or a woodlice walking on my while sleeping (as I said, it once happened with a small spider...I felt something moving on my left arm, and jumped out of the bed). Sleep deprivation can be dangerous...
Now, the landlady doesn't care to fix this (like she didn't care to refund me the cost of a chemical product I brought to free the pipe of the bath), because she says that these animals never bothered her, and are not dangerous....All I could do was buying some spray, and seal with adhesive tape all holes in the walls/wood, and potential points of entry or hiding...This partially worked, but I still get some woodlice once in a while, although at a reduced rate...
My renting contract ends in 20 days (I pay week-by-week), and I decided to move to a better flat in a more "urban" environment, with no woodlice and spiders...The landlady wants me to pay the rent for the remaining 3 weeks (about 50£/week), because the contract says that...but I think I also had the right to have this pest solved or controlled in some way, instead of being left alone to deal with this problem...
So, if she asks me to pay the rent until the end of the contract, can I remember her that I could sue her because of the stress and the cost of buying chemical products/adhesive tape, or in this country landlords/landladies have all the rights, and no duties?
Thanks

Are you a troll or simply an innocent who has no idea about a tenant's obligations and landlord rights?

I doubt that woodlice and spiders are considered pests since they don't carry disease or destroy stuff like mice or cockroaches.

You were told in this previous thread 3 sources of free expert information for your tenancy issues

http://forums.gumtree.com/viewtopic.php?p=3675502&highlight=#3675502

Your landlady's failure to deal with these perceived problems do not permit you to breach the legally binding obligations of your contract and you must pay rent.

If the bath was blocked by your own skin, hair or products (as opposed to a maintenance defect) then it is only right that you pay to fix it. It is a legal requirement for a tenant to be responsible for any damage they've done, even by accident.

If you've damaged any of the decor by taping up and spraying gaps without permission from the landlady, you may find your deposit is deducted to pay to restore it back to its original state.

Welcome to the UK.

Is there an echo on this forum? This thread is deja vu, is it not?

My advice to you is to post shorter messages as this one is too long for anyone to read. Also don't post the same issue in different threads.
