| Can we have design back in a seperate category to strippers? I don't need to plought through hundreds of ads for exotic dancers to get to the odd 5 or so ads for graphic designers/artworkers/whatever each day. Cheers mate. |

Really? My rear end "you speak, we listen"... Although I'd be happy (enough to come round with a bottle of wine and flowers at this point) to be proven wrong!
ONE SIMPLE THING TO PREVENT SPAM - USE A CAPTCHA FOR EVERY POSTING FORM. The benefits of the scheme outweigh the server overhead increase.
As it is, I would never pay for an advert on gumtree. Those who do are not getting their money invested in a decent service. Sort it out. By the end of the week - why not? |

How about finding some way to stop [preferably permanantly] the porn spam which appears on an allmost daily basis in Community and Madhouse |

* created a log in system for when you post ads so you dont have to re enter your details every time. that way you can keep track of your ads and maybe have a mail box system
* acctually post the ads when people create them!
* give the housing section a different lay out
* use a white back ground instead of yellowish green, will look more professional
* stop stupid job spam emails... like earn $199 in 10 minutes! were not even in america!
* stop people reposting their ads everyday... with a log in system it will stop people just creating loads of the same ads |

| A login / user system where you can create and store your ads would be very good. And also preventing reposting every day could work well. |

Everyone is talking about a button for Classic View which lets you view Gumtree in the old way.
Where is this button please? |

|
|
Start rant.
Please, for the love of common decency and respect - STOP people posting adverts in the Casual Relationships section PURELY to obtain my email address to spam me s**t about their website and fake profile!
When I respond to an advert, I want to be SURE it's from a GENUINE, HONEST, SINCERE female who wants male company. I do NOT want my email used and abused by someone for them to SOLELY spam my email address with some porn-pedalling, lying, cheating scumbag sending me requests to go to a website to look at some ficticious profile, *usually American, what f**king use is that to me??!
When I respond I expect to either get an honest reply back from a genuine, sincere gal who's either not interested in seeing me, OR from an honest, genuine & sincere gal who DOES want my company.
If you keep allowing this to happen, your reputation as a good, trustworthy website will most likely fade to dust.
So far I'm highly unimpressed. Sex & intimacy is a basic anthropological necessity, and how I go about getting it shouldn't be judged or made a mockery of by anyone, least of all by fake, lying, scheming porn-bots who only want my email so they can send me spam!
Sorry if I sound pi**ed, but yes, I AM pi**ed; get over it.
Close rant. Peace. |

I have remarked b4 that the new look creates too much space on the page and requires too much scrolling across on a non-widescreen computer.
Another issue is the number of items listed per page.
Page turning is agonisingly slow when you're trying to skim thru the list.
Why not post 100 items on a page at a time (like google does)?
also
Why not number them so that you can find the one you were looking at before quickly if you 'go back'?
also
Can it be arranged so that there is a hotkey for 'next' so that you dont have to continually scroll down and move the mouse to turn the page?
also
When you click on a listing and want to 'go back' to the list of items, why does it always return to the top - why cant it go back to the item listing you had reached on the page?(Its then often hard to find your place on the page - hence the need for numbering.)
Can I put in a plea for web design aimed more at functionality and less at aesthetics?
I hope all that makes some sense. |

Remove the automatic software that removes contentious posts as it so obviously doesn't actually work and respond to questions in a reasonable timeframe. That would be a fantastic start. |

I think this has been mentioned before, but please is it possible to remove silly spam notices from the jobs section? There's one particular idiot who has been peppering the Reading & Oxford job sites with useless rubbish every day for ages now, and it's really annoying. E.g. 'How would u like to resolve a paypal dispute' and other spurious trash. Ideally it would be good if you could disable users who abuse the jobs notice boards in this way.
Thanks! |

I second that.
Also, adverts should not take too long to appear on the list. |

| Gumtree is slowly falling appart. I've posted over a dozen ads, and not one has appeared. Gumtree support is crap, they never reply, what do they do all day at work? I've had enough, I'm going to find another free ad site. Word quickly gets around Gumtree, won't be long before you've got no users unless you get thing fixed. |

I'm starting to think I'm going a bit madd here. I could have sworn I placed a number of differen adds over the last few weeks but they don't seem to be showing - I must have imagined it!
Seriously though, if your advert doesn't get posted then you will naturally lose users. I know it's free, but even a free service wont be used when it doesn't work!
I hope it is sorted out soon. (A response to my non-existent add placed on Saturday would be good too!) |

|
|
I would like to suggest that gumtree splits the massage section in two. One section for therapeutic massage and the other for adult services. When people log in to the section on therapeutic massage a notice should automatically appear stating that the services in this section do not include anything of a sexual nature and that it is offensive to ask.
At the moment the massage page is over run with services of a sexual nature and self regulation is NOT working.
Although gumtree policy does not currently allow ads of a sexual nature to be placed by individual therapists the sponsorship ads are full of such ads. Does gumtree have one policy for free ads and another for those that are paid for?
If so then an adult services section would probably work very well. If not then why are sponsors allowed to advertise such services?
All massage adverts should not have the option to post pics. |

I've only recently discovered Gumtree (must have led a sheltered life) but it's already quite good as it is. If anything, maybe developing the towns around the big cities and having Gumtree communities in them wud be gud.
But generally speaking it's a fantastic facility, I think. Hilarious forums, serious forums, intelligent debate, not so intelligent debate. There really isn't much like it around. So, yes, I'd love to see more of it in the smaller towns around the big cities.
Thanks.
