The old chat rooms were so much quicker and easier to chat on.

I understand the benefits of the 'new' gumtree. It is brighter, more hi-tec, and - for those who want serious conversation - the registration system is a good idea.

But one size does not fit all. It certainly doesn't fit 'Madhouse'. The whole appeal was its spontenaety, its irreverance and its 'drop in/drop out' culture. Sure, sometimes it got extremely hairy in there....and sometimes a thick-skin was called for... but no-one was ever forced to stay, and now - more than ever - there is plenty of choice for those who don't enjoy the Madhouse experience.

The new 'London Chat/Madhouse' won't take off. Enough people have said that already. Please don't fall into the trap of thinking that it just needs more time for people to get used to it. If nothing is done, it will be left to rot as a sad, soul-less white-elephant. Surely the test of effective moderating is that you are in tune with and responsive to the needs of those for whom you are providing a service. You have a chance to gain HUGE respect by showing that you do listen, by taking 'Madhouse' outside the new structure and offering it as a 'free-for-all' board as before.

Please update the emails/penpals section MUCH more frequently!

It's gotten SO bad lately, no updated posts till like 5pm and sometimes after!

Not sure if other sections update so ridiculously infrequently, but if so, please fix them as well!

Other similar 'community' sites update much quicker ie the site that starts with craigs and ends in list !

Sort it out gumtree admin, i think the site would be much better if it wasnt updated as slowly as it is right now!

Cheers and heres to hoping .. else i'm off like many others to (currently)much better alternative sites!

Dear Gumtree Admin
It is clear many people are upset about the old chatroom boards not being promoted. Even though they are still functional would it be possible to place the links to them in your new section and promote them as chatrooms or something similar. A lot of people prefer that style of forum as it was easier to have a real time chat in. The new forum seems more apropriate for posts as opose to real time chat. Please take this into consideration as most people loved the old Gumtree boards and it would be a great shame to see them deteriorate as they seem to be doing. Both will work well together and I think this will put Gumtree ahead of the many other discussion forums on the Net. You have a great community here and I for one enjoy chatting here, so please take this into consideration.

As you see your discussions boards were just used for real time chat which was sometimes quite amusing to read anmd join in. Unfortunately now you have changed it to a post site where flowing conversations cannot happen and people are obviosly using other boards now to chat as your posts are well down each day.
The rest of the site is okay so please dont cock it up making it more difficult to use. Shame youve done it to all discussion boards as im busy trying to find the site the others have gone to ????? Anyone help.

There seems to be a problem with the Edinburgh gumtree... I can get most of the cities, but I just get a blank page for Edinburgh, or Wellington (tried many cities - most of them work, some don't, and it's not intermittent.) Thought you'd like to know - I'd sure like to be able to use the site.

Sometimes I've posted an ad for stuff for sale and it doesnt appear at all on the site. Also it seems to take a few hours for ads to appear from the time they were first submitted. Any chance of getting this sped up?
