HELLO EVERYONE THIS IS A CONVERSATION IM HAVING ABOUT AN ITEM FOR SALE ON GUMTREE, IM WORRIED ITS A SCAM, CAN YOU GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS (IM Craig / the seller is Sylvia)

Hello,
Firstly I would like to say that it is still available. All shipping costs are included in the price. The item is new, in original box and it comes with full warranty. If you are interested to buy it from me I have to tell you that I will only do this through eBay. In order to start the transaction email me your full name, destination address (for shipping) and your eBay ID.
As soon as I have the details I will forward them to eBay and they will send you an invoice with more details, confirming our transaction!
I will send the item via UPS overnight. It should arrive within 24 hrs. I will have it ready for shipping as soon as you reply with the requested details.
I wait your reply with great interest.
Cheers,
Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,
Thanks for getting back to me, yes im still interested. If you create a ebay item sale and send me the item Number link; I will pay for it immediately and that way we are both covered by ebay buyer/seller policies. I look forward to receiving your reply and purchasing the bike asap.
Kind regards,
Craig

hi,
i`m glad that you still interested.i can`t post again on eBay because one man want to buy it ,i close the item for them....whatever.please understand me.
for the moment i`m away to my parents,my mum is sick...... and for that i choose ebay because it will be more easier and more safe for both of us
it is in great working condition.
email me as soon as possible with your full name, destination address and your ebay id if you have one because i have more interested buyers
regards

Hi Sylvia
Ok well to make it easy and to make sure where both covered and safe, I would prefer not to provide all of my personal account details (as you can understand), I would be willing to meet you and collect the bike giving you cash or even if you would prefer to sell it from your local bike shop I could go there and pay them so you have more security if you prefer.
Kind regards,
Craig

don`t be afraid.everything will be ok.i work with ebay for 3 years .
after i have your details i will forward them to ebay and after that you will receive an invoice from them.is very simple
take care of you

Of course it's a scam! Do not reply, remember always, if something is too nice to be true it is mostly not.

He, she writes 'i am' with no capital letter, than 'he want' instead of 'wants'. He is some kind of romanian/nigerian/whatever scammer, stay away from him!!
His mother is sick.. please, eBay never sends any invoices.. forget it.

Here is one I got yesterday! Very Happy

"Just to prove that you can afford the rent and All i am asking you to do is to send the money to a friend of yours in UK through the western Union and scan the receipt then send it to my email address for my Solicitors to confirm the transaction, after the confirmation we can arrange viewing, after viewing you can ask your friend to pick the money Up,I have wasted My Precious time to come over where My Property is located at Just because some one want to view my property and after they have viewed My property they told me that they were really interested in it but they can not afford the house rent that is why you have to prove to me first that you can afford the rent by sending the Money to your friend in UK through the western union money transfer ,the Money will still be withing you and your friend, after the confirmation of the transaction then we can arrange viewing, after viewing you can ask your friend to pick the Money Up and i will refund the western union charges back to you during the viewing day,Let Me Know when you are going to send the Money to a friend of yours in UK through the western Union so that i can inform my solicitors about it.I will be Looking forward to hearing from you soon."

I enquired about a car i saw for sale, thought it was too cheap to be true but then i thought it might be some dumbass. The no phone no. available should have been a dead give away. I checked out there reply and they have been pulling this scam or a diff variation of it loads a times. Below it what they wrote to me, you think they were auditioning fo the x factor, with their tales of ill, elderly parents and what not!

RE: Your Gumtree Liverpool ad #33261829: 2002 AUDI A4 2.5 TDI SPORT QUATTRO AUTO LEATHER‏

ME:
Hi
RE:Audi for sale, when is it available for viewing and do you have a contactnumber? Thanks

ASSHOLE:From: nateklara@yahoo.co.uk
Hi,

I'm really sorry but I have some problems with the phone. For some reasons when I receive a call, the fax machine is connecting in the same time. I've talked with the phone company and only the next week they can send someone to fix the problem...We must communicate by email if is not a problem.
This car engine runs very, very smooth. No damages, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, never been involved in accidents. All power and optional equipment work perfectly. This is a very reliable car that has never given me any problems. A great car that will not disappoint. I just moved to Falmouth because my husband is from here and he wanted to be closer to his parents as they are old and very ill. Besides, there are lot of things which have priority now, so, this car has to go. We are expecting a baby in a few weeks and we really want to improve the old house that we bought when we moved in time for the baby. The car is ready for the shipping, in the shipping company warehouse. As you probably noticed, the price is rather low £1,900 . Due to the fact I am very busy with my work and I don't stay too much at home, the car is already to the shipping company and will be delivered from there very fast(48 hours), shipping cost is included in price. The transaction will be made under eBay's and Gumtree Vehicle Purchase Protection Program. So, please reply back so i can tell you more about how this service works.

My best wishes.
Klara Nate

ME:
Hi Klara

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Yeh i totally understand about the phone thing, the same thing happened to me, can you believe it!lol! I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's parents, my gosh you really have been down on your luck. I hope they get better soon. Yeh the car sounds amazing I can't believe it's so cheap, I hope I'm not taking advantage of your difficult situation? Yeh please get back to me as in how the transaction will work, if you wanted i could send the money directly to you. I really would like to buy the car but I do have a few concerns. This does sound a tad suspicious, prob cuz it is dick-head. Go and fuck yourself and i'll perhaps consider sending you a fiver.

My best wishes.
xx

HA! I hoped i sucked them in, well at least for a min anyway!

BEWARE. We applied for Ireland/England rugby tix yesterday following ebay advert. Process was using gumtree-ebay/moneygram - sounded plausible but it's a SCAM. Luckily we contacted Moneygram immediately who put a hold on the cash and we got it back this morning. Seller was supposedly: Anna Bichop amcashdedat@yahoo.co.uk and other names appearing were Patrick Grey (Gumtree Customer Support). Overseas Agent for receipt of Moneygram funds was Florian Dan Desrobitu in Rome - this was quickly changed to Dumitru Daniel Stanciulescu in Athens. So if you come across any of these contacts - DON'T PROCEED - you will have been had. Thumbs up to Moneygram - they were fantastic.

Sounds very similar to the a guy I bought a macbook pro from.

These are the bank details he gave me:
NATIONWIDE
murriam shahnaz
ACCOUNT NUMBER: 72437164
SORT CODE: 070030

Apparently his sisters details.

When I goggled his mobile number

I found several email addresses with various gumtree adverts and Friday ad

tom-hara@hotmail.com>

The police have been looking into it and said Gumtree have wanted to assist them in anyway.

Interesting to see if its the same guy or if he´s stupid enough to use the same details .

I cant believe i gave him my details, at he doesn't have my bank details eh!

Ushoo82, did you ever hear anything back from the cheque scammer or did you contact the police? It is very worrying that no one in power seems to care about this and they are able to take advantage of the poor state of the economy.

i use ebay and paypal a lot so i knew this was fake easily, though i can see how someone who doesn;t use it much/ is a new user could fall for this.

the email address it was sent from was:
paypal_itemshipment@mail2consultant.com

which is quite blatantly not paypals address lol.

honestly, i started laughing when i read this, got angry at first but it still seemed funny to me.

also go tan email before that one saying i had recieved £300 from him and it was in my paypal account. so i wen tand checked myself by going to the site and it wasn't there.

Is this a scam? I recieved this after enquiring about an expensive camera.

Quote:
If you are interested to buy it now, I will do this transaction only through eBay in order to have a safe transaction for both of us. To start the transaction please reply me with your full shipping name, address and your eBay ID.
As soon as I have them I will start the official procedure, and eBay will notify you about this. eBay will send you an invoice with all the info you will need to complete the transaction. I will handle the shipping to your location, so this will be free of charge for you.
You will get the camera and you will have 3 days of inspection in which you can decide if you keep it or not. In case the item is not as described and you don't want to keep it, you notify eBay and you send it back on my cost! (shipping is already paid by me). If you want to keep it, you notify eBay. Payment method and all the details will be set up by eBay for security reasons. They will contact you to confirm the transaction by email. You will get the item in max. 48 hours.

Same sh!t; different day.

[From chrisddogan@googlemail.com]

RE: Audi A3, £2,100

I have something safe for you because I want you to be sure that
you will receive the car.i`m ready to send you the car
but i must have a guarantee for my side too.

Here is how we gonna handle the deal:

I will offer you a way to receive the car before i get my money..

You will have to deposit the money via Money Gram (which is an international money transfer ) on any name and address
in Italy from your name to let`s say your best
friend name or one of your relatives name.

Money Gram is in every bank.

Its very easy to use no bank account or something else to delay our transaction.
You can handle a Money Gram transfer in 5 minutes.

As soon as i will have the receipt of the transfer
and see you done it i will ship the car right away
to your name and address with a shipping company and you will receive it in 7-8 days.

I will pay for delivery cost.

After you will get the car and inspect it you just change the receiver`s name of the
transfer
into mine so i can pick up the money and get paid

In this way you will have 100% safety for your money and i will ensure
that i`m dealing with
a serious buyer ready to pay for my car.

So..the real payment Will be made only upon receipt of the car.

Only after you will receive the car and check it, if it is ok you will
have to change the receiver`s name of the transfer to my name so i can collect my
money.

So until you
will have the car received , the money will be deposited on
Money Gram to your best friend name or relatives name.

Also, you will have 5 days, time to check the car,and if you are not
satisfied you can
return it and get your money back instead of releasing the payment to me.

You can go to your mechanic for
inspection to
confirm you that the car
is OK and to Police so they can tell you that the car it's not stolen
or something like that.

If you dont like the car..you`ll return it and get your money back with no
costs.

In this way we avoid any type of additional taxes and we proceed when you are ready
with the transaction.

Please give me a reply if you accept the deal in this way.

Thanks,

-You'd think these guys would change the story from time to time. Continuing moral of the story: 'If it seems too good to be true, it almost certainly is.'

Suggestion is to ignore it. Don't trust anything paypal especially here on gumtree. Your best bet is to take it off the site altogether and try places like adtrader/freeads.

Hello,

Sorry for the delayed response, but I'm in Italy right now and I have been very busy.Any way, thank you for your interest
in buying my car.The car is located in Italy right now but has UK papers and still registered in UK.
I am going through a difficult divorce, and I had to move out of UK.

So all that I want to do now is to sell the car at this price, as you can see the price is a bit cheaper because I need to sell it fast.
Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well. It has title of ownership, cleared of
any obligations or fees and comes with all the documents you need to register it.

I've wanted to register it here and keep it for me,
unfortunately import taxes and Italy regulations made me change my mind.

I take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the car, to be sure that I'm not wasting
my time with endless discussions since it is already a very difficult period for me.So if you are interested please email me back.
You will not pay anything for delivery and the car will arrive to your place in 7-8days.

If you need more info about the car or pictures let me know and i will send them to you,i will also explain to you better
how this deal will be closed.

Thank you

These people piss me off !!!

If you buy an iphone second-hand from anyone, call o2 from their phone and ask the owner to confirm their details to o2 and get the iphone transferred into your name.

I have been scammed in the following way:

I bought an iphone cash, even tested the iphone with my sim and checked that warranty was valid in the UK from Apple.
After I handed over the cash, we parted ways and shortly thereafter I had a "no service" message on the iphone.

I queries with o2 and they confirmed the iPhone was barred because the owner had called and reported the iphone lost/stolen, so o2 had barred the IMEI number. Now I cannot make calls (otherwise works perfectly) and original owner gets sent a replacement!

I trust this help you not get caught with what seems like a legit deal, only to find o2 have blocked the phone.

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PHONE TRANSFERRED INTO YOUR NAME!

Cheers

I am sick of scammers, all they do is waste our time, even though it maybe fun at times, we all want to sell our items

Surely Gumtree should act on this

I have placed an add that is bogus and i will post the repsonses up on this forum.
