Hi there,
I am off to Thailand in 2 weeks for a month of backpacking. I have decided not to take Malaria tablets and am wondering if I buy bottles of mozzie repellant with DEET in it will this be enough or should I get a mozzie net as well. Any advice on this wouldbe greatly appreciated. Many thanks. |

It depends, most areas are not to bad for Mossies, but you can end up in some areas where they can be bad. Also, some areas have malaria, so check before you go anywhere, but otherwise you will be fine |

Generally you won't need to take anti malarials in well populated areas or holiday resorts. Although if you are going up North I would advise you to speak to your doctor.
Bear in mind though that some Malaria tablets have side effect such as stopping the contraceptive pill working, and turnin your skin black. Also I was advised to stay out of the sun (!).
There are millions of mozzies out there though so get a net - I racked up over 20 bites in 2 weeks. |
