Hi, I'm off to Europe this summer in a campervan and was wondering if anybody had a suggestion as to the best road maps that I should buy?
I was also wondering if there was a guide that covered most road maps but also included a listing of caravan parks for europe? I have found that most guides concentrate on one country and I really dont want to have 20 different guides in the car!
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Hi Renee,
We travelled around Europe for 6 months in a van last year and had a ball. We had a European road atlas (from WH Smith) which has all the major roads in it for route planning. We also had an Alan Rogers Guide to campsites which proved useful sometimes ans not so useful others, but I'd still recommend taking one. The Caravan Club (not to be confused with Camping and Caravanning Club) produce a 2 volume guide to camping in Europe which I believe has more sites in it than the Alan Rogers book and also more general info on touring in each country.
The other thing you could consider is a GPS or Tom Tom. We spent about £200 on a Magellan one for our trip, saved many arguements and prevented a divorce a few times! They are much cheaper now so whilst ours wasn't as advanced as saying 'turn left, turn right' etc, you could now probably get one for £200 that will do this right throughout Europe.
Happy travelling!

I'm sure that your information will come in handy. I'll check out the book store this weekend. Have a good Easter
