It really annoys me when I go onto Gumtree and find ads with stuff that is obviously not available anymore. For example, I somehow doubt anyone would want to go to a concert in September 2006, now that it's almost December 2006.

I propose that Gumtree clean up the ads that are obviously out of date, or ask willing people to do so. I'd be happy to help by doing this, and to contact people with old adverts to ask if their product is still available.

Thanks for the comments. We do delete old ads beyond the expiry times shown in the FAQ, and for the ones that are still live it is very clear when they were posted.

We currently have more than half a million ads on the site, so contacting people to update them would be quite time-consuming
