is this a local or cross UK move?
Sometimes local taxi van companies are the cheapest - basically a man/men and van operation that charge a low fixed price or hourly rate, according to size of vehicle or number of hands.
I used the following company which was around 20% less than the lowest quote and 60% less than the dearest but you will need to check if they cover your area.

Get yourself multiple quotes from the national taxi van chains. |

oh, and be wary of ultra low quotes and make sure it's in writing.
2 out of 3 companies I contacted that provided the lowest quotes raised them substantially when I enquired again closer to the date of the move with a view to booking their services.
I'm not sure why these companies believe a customer would then confirm a booking when they've shown themselves to unreliable by hiking the price but that's what a number of them did. |
