Hi there
My boyfriend & I will be arriving in Paris from Amsterdam by train on Monday 14 May arvo......needing some advice please...
Where should we stay, which area? Cheap hotel ok inc breakfast preferable, no hostel.
Looking at going to Disneyland for 1 day - where should we get our tickets? From the Disneyland gate or a website? How long on the train & how much to get there?
We are not arty farty types, but are interested in building architecture, drinking, huge rock music fans-listening or live gig, having a good time & general nice feelgood things to do is our thing. Will check out Notre Dame, Louvre (maybe) & Arc de Triumphe - what other places are worth seeing?
Definately will be doing the Eiffel tower thing, whats the best time to get there in the morning? Also, ive heard of Eiffel tower bike tours at night - who runs these & how much?
Would also love to catch a show at Moulin Rouge - how should we go about getting tickets & how much $$ is a show? I have found a company that does dinner at first floor Eiffel tower, Seine river cruise & Moulin Rouge show (FEERIE) for 155 euro.....is this worth it and it is a good price?
Anyway, look forward to your responses & sampling the coffee & wine in france!
Thanks |

Hi Kylie,
don't know anything about Moulin Rouge prices, but you were asking about places to visit, you definitely should have a look to Montmartre (Dalì museum and a huge view over Paris) and Le Marais... Have a nice trip |

Thanks | first by a weekly ticket carte orange zone 1/2. If you stay only in Paris. Try to come on sunday cos the weekly ticket works from monday to sunday. Not like in London when you can buy a weekly ticket from friday to thursday the next week. |

I'll to share my own experience with Paris. First, the good thing is you don't need to bother with cash : The city is very card-friendly, plenty of ATMs everywhere if you need cash, and stores or restaurants routinely use cards. Versailles is overcrowded in summer and much of the year. Better go to Chateau de Fontainebleau or Chateau de Chantilly, also reachable for a day-trip, and these are real gems.
Don't forget to have a dinner cruise on the Seine, this one costs only 50 Euro, wine extra but costs only an additionnal 25 Euro for a bottle of Cotes du Rhone.
Another little-known gem is the Canal Saint Martin which was used in the past to deliver goods and construction material with barges. Scroll along the Canal through this satellite picture, the neighborhood is fantastic... |

there's something that everybody tends to forget...it is a place reachable in an-hour train ride from Gare de Lion. the place is called Giverny and it is the village where Monet lived in his wonderful house...
I would recommend to spend an entire day there, especially if you are around during Springtime!! |
