Hi

Im a partly qualified Accountant im still studying for my ACCA, I work for a designer retail company in the accounts department I have been with the company for a year and have moved up which now means I run my whole department but I now feel that I want to change companies and that's where I need help - I would really like to work for JP MORGAN or UBS a big investment company but I seem to be finding it hard, it seems to be a case of who you know??!!!!

Is there anyone that can help me or at least point me in the right direction...

I think you should register with an agency that those places use. Hays are usually pretty good and are linked to the big firms.

Have you considered broadening your scope? There are a number of banks and smaller financial institutions around that would be keen to take on a graduate accountant to groom in the business.

Once you are in the industry as per say, you can then successfully network. It is amazing what a small world it is sometimes.

Before you hook up with a recruitment agency, thave a good think about the type of accountancy you want to do its a big field. Chelsea says broaden your scope and yes I have firend who did accountancy who are now account managers for financial services, I also have friends who are accountants in the BBC and Sky. Most companies have accountants so decided on what type of industry you want to work in... I would say narrow your scope and find somewhere where you'll be happy
