So yeah, I've come across this a few times but I haven't seen anyone mention it...

I was looking for Reading tickets last week and spotted a load of scams, which were probably by people in this country. There's no bad English, just a normal guy and a bank account.

A thing to note is that he was out of London and claimed to live in Glasgow. In which case, WTF is he doing on London - so I assumed it was a scam but played along.

He then stated as a "safe way" to do the exchange was to pay for half of the amount, he sends the tickets and then pay the rest.

No way is this even legit, even if he tries to make it sound like it's the only way. He was offering 4 tickets and half the amount would still have been £200. I'm pretty sure he's happy to scam £200 of dozens of people.

He was pretty convincing though, because when I told him I didn't want them he said "yeah, well someone else will take them anyway".

This is dodgy and I've had it a few times. It'd be nice if a warning got mentioned in the blog on buying safe tickets?

Don't buy tickets off guys who are making excuses not to meet (that goes for most stuff on Gumtree) and see the tickets yourself before actually buying them. If you need to, you can call up the company who issued the tickets and with the issue number you can ask them if they're real or replica's.
