Does my mechanic ask for too much money?

I have just bought a car and took it for a service.
couple of things need to be changed.
He is asking £512 for the service (£99)
changing of front brake pads ,one new tyre +labour

And maybe the timing belt needs to be changed too.
Anybody is an expert?

I thought I buy the pads myself ,but where ?

if you dont know where to buy the pads
whats your chances of being abole to fit them

get a quote from another garage

buy stuff in halfords

it depends on the service that he is doing ask him what is included in that service, also it will depend on the car, but it does sound a bit on the high side.
