Firstly I just want to apologise for going on about something that has been mentioned a million times before.
I have recently been selling an item (not on gumtree) and received an email from someone who wanted me to post it to Oxford. I knew from the start it was a scam so I thought I would play along and as I expected I was sent a payment notification email from "paypal" so I checked my account and the funds hadn't shown up (there's a suprise). I emailed the guy and said that the item wouldn't be sent until the money was in the account. Just after I sent it I had another email from paypal saying "PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PAYMENT WILL NOT APPEAR IN THE "PENDING" TAB IN YOUR ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU SEND THE SHIPMENT REFERENCE NUMBER OR RECEIPT SCANNED COPY TO US." (sorry about the cap letters but I copied and pasted straight from the email).
I also checked the address he wants it delivered to and it is a guest house in Oxford. I have rung them and confirmed that there is a guest there by that name. Obviously the thames valley police have been informed.
If you have had any dealings or receive emails from the following people then please beware -
Adedamola Fadipe (betaboy2030@yahoo.com) - he is the guy who emailed me.
Chinedu Onyia - this is the name of guy who it is to be delivered to.
The guest house address is...
Kings guest house,
363 Iffley road,
Oxford,
OX4 4DP |
