It is quite depressing that I have an inverse weekend now i.e. I don't drink Monday or Tuesday but drink the rest of the time pretty much whereas I only used to drink on the weekend. Varies from having one beer at a mates place during a pop-in to blowing a tonne and a half and getting completely hosed.

I never drank much for about 4 years though and have just come out of hibernation somewhat.

Stop justifying it GG! Wink

I hardly drank for the 12-18 months leading up to my arrival in the UK. I have spectacularly made up for it since tho...

Ok, you got me, I'm just like that chick off Hollyoaks....

I can drink half a bottle of spirits now and not get pissed whereas when I was 17 if I had that much I'd be almost blowing chunks.

Thats what I mean, instead of popping round and once being offered a cup of tea, you are now offered a glass of wine or beer.

Drinking is fine in moderation but I think people drink far too much and become to rely on its effects way too much !!

Alcahol is a social thing....

Unlike Coffee or Tea or any non-alcaholic beverage it is unique in that the more you drink, the more thirsty you get, because it dehydrates you.

The fact that we drink is I believe down to boredom. If you've got something else to keep you occupied or you have something that interests you, then you dont need to drink.

And the problem with that is what exactly??

Its not a problem to be offered alcohol, not at all hun !!

Its just that for some people alcohol is a way of life and I think it becomes an addiction just like smoking in the end !

I like to drink to unwind but when my London time finally comes to an end, I am positive my alcohol intake will reduce dramatically!

Agree, and obviously it makes you feel good, happy so people like that feeling so drink.

I like a good drink at the weekends only really !!

But I think there are better feelings out there than what you can get from alcohol i.e. siting in the sunshine with a nice cup of tea Laughing And thats the truth !!!!!

Give me sunshine and a pot of tea and a nice packet of biscuits and that floats my boat!

But seriously, I think stress plays a big part in drinking, cos normally by Friday everybody has had a stressful week and the alcohol relaxes you and makes you feel good after a stressful time doesnt it?
