Cath

You will not be able to get a schengen visa after you working holidaty visa expiers. They only give you a schengen visa if you visa your on is at least 6months too expiery date.

I had the same problem. I now have a work permit and I got the schengen no problem as I am staying in London now for 2 more yrs.

You can try and get one , but I know they are strict on visa's if you have a SA passport.

Although I was told the french embassy will give you a visa in your last 3month of your uk Visa.

I am also going to Greece in July - does anyone know if I will have a problem getting that visa as I will be in my last 3 months of my UK Visa..

ahhhh..this is such a mission - i might just skip europe all together and go to Thailand for 2 month instead!!!!

no you all wrong, just came back from france on a shengan. On your return date to the uk from ? with a schengen you only need 3months left on your WH Visa in Uk. Hope this helps.

Read the french embassy site for more details.

Yeah thanks for you help - I did read it up and just if you interested there is a loop hole/exception !! Yay!!

If you have a return ticket to your home country, you can get a schegnen up till 1 month is left on your UK Visa.

Hey what happens if your working holiday visa expires and you want to visit a place. I am flying back to Caope Town at the end of my working holiday visa and am stopping over in Frankfurt for 3 days to see some mates. Anyone know if i will have any problems? I have my flight paid for and tickets n all.
Cheers

hey there,

My WHV expires next week and I have just received a shengen visa for Germany where i am going to visit a mate. They did approve it, however i had to show that i had a formal invitation letter from my mate (her parents have to show their local council how much money they earn etc) and I also had my flight ticket back to South Africa, plus i am only staying for 4 days. So im not too sure why it got approved, whether its one of those factors or all of them together or if i was just lucky. But I had no problem.

The lady at the Embassy did not seem to approve when she saw my WHV was near to expiring, but as I said I did have my flight tickets. The websites does specify that you need at least three months left on your WHV.
