I don't mind helping out if you need any help.
http://www.oops! is a good place to get a free website if you don't want to pay for hosting/domain name.
Thanks |

Infact it will depend on what you want the website to do for you or how you want it to operate. If you are interested in having a website, then all i can is that, have a look at http://st.visual2.net
That is a all purpose website that includes video, audio, galleries, shopping chart, blog, forum, chat, auction,Instant messaging, email, forums, etc that I have configured using drupal the most strongest software around in recent times. You need not know any html or php to handle the site. All you do is click and build.I am selling a copy for £50.00 .It is worth $9999.contact me if you are interested anyone |

Dont want to put out your fire uroy71, but the above site is actually part of http://drupal.org/ an opensource (ie free to use) project I have used myself, don't pay for this type of system (unless you want someone to set it up for you), its opensource for a reason.
Microsoft Office Live Basics is free, including the domain name, its very easy to setup and your email looks like hotmail.

You are quite right that it is open source and part of drupal. There is nothing better than drupal in reality that does exactly what it says. The £50 I am giving it away for is just like asking someone to make a donation. The amount of time to configure such a site alone,i bet you know what it means as a professional in the industry if you are not meant to mislead the community.Let anyone have a look at http://st.visual2.net and tell me if the price i am asking for is the ONLY best price you will find online for a sophisticated site.Contact me now if you are interested in having a site that does exactly what you want just with one click |

LOL...
What thay are saying is:
If you want a website that does everything then you use http://st.visual2.net at a cost of £50
Someone is questioning this as its what’s called 'Open Source'
Open Source means the source code behind the application or web application is free for anyone to use and modify. so for example that site has an web based application that builds a website from info you input, someone programmed the 'source' code and lets other people have it for free of charge.
So 'open' being open for anyone to use without payment and 'source' referring to the programming behind the application.
The other guy is referring to Microsoft’s Office Live service which offers hosting space and domain names for free and provides you with a WYSIWYG editor for creating a website in minutes (WYSIWYG means What you see is what you get)
I could go on and on why not to choose Microsoft but it would take me to next year so i will not.
To answer your original question without bathling you:
Yes you can build a website for free, but not a very good one.
Free domain names come with terms & conditions that state that the domain name is not yours but the owners of the company that you registered it with, and at any time (normally when they think they can make money from you) will prevent you from using this free domain name (really their lending it you). also they very rarely offer end server tags like .com .co.uk etc its
Free hosting, these will automatically add adverts in your webpage that you cannot remove, if they don’t have the advert they will have very limited functions within the hosting package, the domain name will be a sub-domain name with their company name in the address, have unreasonable requests to keep your account open, unreliable service.
The ones that offer everything and the world plus unlimited everything are normally some college dropout that’s installed an OPEN SOURCE server application called Apatche Server thats free for anyone to download and use, they will have it installed on their box standard Home Computer using their basic modem, so its unreliable, Extremely Un-secure and slow, and if any company even genuine companies offer unlimited etc is laying as servers can only take so much before it slows down to a holt and confuses its self, a Linux server no matter how good its spec can only compute 500 email address at one time, so if you have 50 uses that signed up for 10 free emails each but should have unlimited will find when they sign up for the 11th its extremely slow service time....
Your best bet is to build you webpage and upload it to your free web space that your internet service provider has offered you, then go to someone like www.1and1.co.uk and buy a domain name for £2.99 a year and have it point to your free hosting space with your provider.
It’s cheap and reliable and secure |

When it comes to quality,Drupal is the best open source software whose abilities ends where your brain stops to think. You can build any ype of website without the need to know php,css and html. The reference I provided was for some that will customize your drupal website to any needed level or degree.
It does not matter if you want a community like this one, like facebook,a shopping platform or what ever. But recently i came across the cheapest designers in UK and they are from www.pound-investors.com I have worked with them on one of my sites and there is a great difference when it comes to cost and availability. The other one was from Russia and no more recommended because they failed to finish my project until these guys from pound-investors helped me out |

Prolly the easiest thing to start with would be Wordpress. Drupal isn't exactly for begginners!
Check out www.odins-abode.co.uk done in WordPress.
If you have a domain I could host it for your for free.
Drop me an email if you are interested. |

Yes - It is easy to create a website.
It helps if you know a little - but experience does not come overnight and like any new job, you need time to adjust to your new routines and to grasp the fact that running a website often means quite long hours, especially if you market yourself well.
But yes - I left a job after 22 years to work online and have never looked back.
Good luck - its quite a roller coaster at time, but very fulfilling. |

Hi shabahnaWC45biTM
- If I'd have asked that question 8 years ago and got the answers I got here I would not have considered it further as I think you have to know a little to understand some of this...
I am not pushing anything here, but if you do not know the basics then much of what you get in the way of answers may as well be chinese! If you want to get online and need an easy and affordable way of doing this, then, yes, we have a solution that you can grasp probably within the shortst time you are ever likely to - BUT if you want to go through a few details with me about what you would like to do etc then I could advise you better directly.... and NOT because I am trying to get you to sign up to our solution - that's a decision for you... BUT I have chatted to lots of newbie prospective website owners over the years.. and once they understand what is involved they can then make an informed decision.
It isn't necessary to understand web development now, and it can take more time and energy than it is worth developing knowledge... that is why ecommerce solutions are increasingly popular as they allow the business owner (you) to get on with running their business.
Feel free to ring us or use our online Live support for a chat. We may be able to help you to decide what you need and where to start.
Best of luck in your plight to decide. |

I have a website for sale. www.theroyalarchitect.com.
I had an architect business but moved abroad. It is still getting client requests. If anyone wants to buy it they can and hire some freelance architects who simply give you a cut of all the profits!
Dunno what else to do with it... shame really. |

If you go to your local WHSmith, there's a CD ROM with templates and a wizard to create your own website, think I bought one a little over a month ago on the buy 2 CDs for£15 offers on the racks:) I am sure you can find similar CDROMs at other stationery outlets. They also stock similar literature but you can get the info free online.
Use search engines and they you should get a number of good results for 'how to create a website' ranging from step-by-step guides to tutorials.
The CD ROM I was talking about is really easy to use and once that bit's been done by you (free), then you can worry about the domain and hosting and again this info is available online.
If all that fails or you can't be asked to do a bit of reading, then look into getting someone to do it for you.. |

Here people are looking for a way to make website for free.
Well, will you charge for it or will do it for free of charge? |

| If this fella is looking looking for a free site then I can show him several affiliated methods of setting up for free. This includes free site and products. The only thing I will charge for is the time it takes to set up a domain name to cover the affiliate name and the time of setting up the google account to advertise the website. Getting the free stuff is easy. It's the advertising that's difficult. But why I was asking the original question was because he may have his own product to sell. If he has there is a great trading place right under his nose where he can push a product put up photos, put in his own discription of the product and also take payments through paypal. You will also be given a web adress so you can send people there. So going on the original question. What is he looking for with this web site? |
