|

Hi all !
I plan to stay in London from the 12th of July to ending August. I hope to find a job there to afford my stay, including food, housing, parties, trips around the country and clothes (when needed). I think my english is not too bad. I have already worked in France -sales and legal administrative jobs- but never in the UK. My qualifications will be of no help there : i'm a french lawyer in french law.
What kind of job could I go for ? What is the typical kind of job that can be found easily ?
I would like to meet people, strangers and british, but I really want to avoid french speaking guys : this stay in London is aimed at having fun AND coming back in france speaking a fluent english.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
In exchange, feel free to ask me any question about france / french trips, I'll do my best to advise you if I can.
Many thanks ! |

bar, pubs, restaurants...
get a CV ready, some confy shoes and get prepared to hand it everywhere ( also a good way to visit central london...)
It will be tricky however to avoid french people! |

What do you mean ? I'm not sure to have understood your answer.
Sorry but I only understand "the kind of english written in the books". |

| Hi I work in the pub trade and when we are looking for bar staff personality is the big thing, then honesty and some experience with handling cash, dealing with the general public you will need a great sense of humour. The money is not great but it can be great fun. Check out oops! magazine it's were all the Australians and South Africans look for work. Good Luck and have fun |

Buy a van (300 to 60 GBP) during winter or a scooter during summer, get yourself a job as owner driver courier.
You´ll be required no more than driving and handing packages (small mostly). Gumtree is full of offerts. Dont forget: tips avaiable. Some hardworking scooters make 2,000/month. Pls note: h-a-r-d-w-o-r-k-i-n-g. |

Hi,
As you have a degree you should be able to get office work when you are here. Temp agencys will be able to get you work for 3 months. You could try looking at Law firms as they might need someone French speaking to do something even if its just filing, it will be something to put on your CV when you get back which will look good. Most temp jobs in an office start at about £10 ph and the advantages are you would only work 9-5 and have weekends off to travel or go out. You shouldnt just think about bar work there plenty of opportunities out there for an educated professional even in the short term.
Remember to bring your qualifications with you as well as any IELTS or TOEFL certificate. good luck! |

Hi thanks ! £10 ph ? Waaaooow that's what i want. it would be a blast. what are the names of the temp agencies you are talking about ? Adecco ? what else ? I've passed the toeic two weeks ago and obtained 885. Will that be enough to find an office work ?
do you think i have to bring my toeic AND my law qualifications ?
many thanks |
