| Just south of the river is best, a bit cheaper and still close to all the action. |

Hi Rhea,
Do you have any friends living in London - it's often a good idea to move to an area where you already know people, or near to your work/school. Also, think about your budget - as a general rule, south and east london tend to be a bit cheaper than central and west london. Will you be flatsharing, or are you planning to live alone? If you're planning to come to London to study, it's worth contacting your uni, they may be able to offer some advice, or even put you in touch with a current student who can show you around. www.findaproperty.com and gumtree give a good indication of property prices in the various parts of the city, and www.tfl.gov.uk have a journey planner which can show how long transport will take. However, there's really no substitute for taking a few days to visit London and get a feel for the city and surrounding areas. After all, if I was living alone I would prefer to be somewhere central with lots of amenities nearby, and I would avoid places like Hackney or Brixton, as I wouldn't feel particularly safe, but this is all subjective and YMMV.
Hope this helps,
L |

|
|
I lived in Wood Green, North London for two years and it was great.
15 mins on the tube to Piccadilly and Leicester Sq and 40 mins on the bus to Camden.
The night buses are great there to so you can always get home, it's green (especially near the Alexandra Place end), has a great pub (The Gate opposite Alexandra Palace train station) and had a 24hr bagel shop.
What more do you need? |
