Har har har. I remember those days. We always had a lot of turnips near us. They used to make the washing smell. I would go to school and people always thought I'd farted.  |

Ain't that the truth. For some reason there would always be a big smelly floater in the school bogs too. Did you ever have to use the pink scratchy carbolic soap. Used to scratch half my skin off... |

and the bog paper was that rough type stank of izal shiny on one side and didnt absorb the skiddies,mind you your finger didnt go through it so easily as modern stuff.  |

Since we are on about school days. What about school dinners, I grew up in Scotland and remember, Spam fritters, grey Stovies, battered white sausage. Uuuuugh..
Things definitely improved when we moved to England. |

ah skool dinners custard made with dried milk tasted like liquid cardboard,
meat with horrid yellow fat on it,probably horse meat, prunes yuk.
the cabbage ergh reminds one of flatulence. |

And a good friend of mine - admittedly of Irish origin - says that the potato is the only single food item capable of sustaining life satisfactorily. |
