well...just so that ppl can be catreful..this guy posted a 2 bed flat in shepherds bush for 1100 including bills.looked decent...talked smoothly...we liked the flat and gave him 1000 deposit.he even signed d contract and asked us to come on satrday 1 pm whn the current ppl were moving out....but when we went there we came to know he had duped more than 20 ppl of money and had rented this holiday flat to dupe ppl. Sad

Something very very similar happened to us recently as well as quite a few other people using Gumtree. If it's the same person, I have the contact details of the investigating officer.

that sounds terrible. i guess the only way to avoid such things happening is to check for ID and get references from other tenants. if the landlord is legit they will probably be able to provide references. i am a private landlord myself and worry that people like Adrian will give us all a bad name.

Hi all,
I've just watched your conversation.
I've been scammed badly at the beginning of april.
What a pity i've just realised now that your mail was posted just after.
i saw the picture of this guy you're telling about. it's hard to confirm as his face changes quite a lot but one of my scammers was that kind of origin. But i don't know whether it's him or not because this one seems to operate by himself.there was another man to attend the visit of the flat when i've been deceived and the other was thin, greyish hair, proper english accent.

the police of marylebone is still working on my case and what came up is that only during one week (beginning of april) they scammed 15 persons... multiply it by £2500... well... very well organised people as they created a fake company and a bank account. (big big famous bank...).
if you think you have been a victim of the similar scam as mine, do not hesitate to tell me please. they like to scam french people if you want to know more about them...
