Actually, if that happened to me, I wouldn't go for the mistress with the burning rag - it'd douse it, stick it somewhere about *his* person that the sun doesn't shine, and then light it.
I think Pennant would be proud of us. This girl, silly bint that she is (yes, that's you, Evangelica) clearly doesn't realise the fundamental principles of a house share. ie that it's a s-h-a-r-e, which means sharing things. Like the kitchen, the bathroom, and, oh, the responsibility maybe? |

It is his and my problem when I have been tricked. This is called misrepresentation! I contracted for a room, not a house. Everything advertised screamed " A Room".
In my defence, I am not a solicitor or barrister, I wouldn't know what "joint and severally liable" means. If you ask 10 lay people, chances are 9 of them haven't got a clue! I'm have not been afforded the opportunity to do a google search when I literally have moved all my things into the room before I saw the contract and the landlord only presented me with contract after and failed to highlight the terms, deliberately of course. Am I supposed to say "I can't sign the contact before I haven't consulted google or wikipedia and tonight I will stay in a hotel?"
You sound like one of those arsehole landlords who are totally evil. I hope you have a nice life......NOT.

you can't be all that bright if you can't work out what "joint" is likely to mean. And if you didn't understand it... why not ASK?
It's your lesson and it's time to eat humble pie. You screwed yourself just as much as anybody else did by signing something you didn't even understand.
And well... quite frankly, any idiot who spouts crap like "I wanna kill my ex-landlord and burn his house down" has NOT moved on and should be committed to a mental institute. I pity whoever you rent a room from in the future. You sound like a real piece of work...
